Lunch with the U today at Pizza Ranch, W 41st.
Leeanne Williamson, head volleyball coach, will be featured plus Bob Nielson will update all things football. I know the primary focus at this point is Yote football, with good reason, but the program today is a double header!
If you haven't had the opportunity to listen to coach Williamson before, this is a great time to hear from one of the really good division 1 volleyball coaches. She is doing great things with our program and once you witness her in person you will understand why.

If someone can make it they should ask how they come up with scheduling and why rivalry games are not being put on weekends to maximize attendance.

Probably get same answer as last year when asked why USD-SDSU was on New Years. Schedule runs on rotations so it is fair.

I don't recall that explanation but at least makes some sense. The only problem is most teams don't have a true "rival" so I don't know why they would care when they play certain teams.

If that is the response, I'd follow it up with: So should we move the SLT to Fort Wayne next year? Since it is about rotating fairly, and not about maximizing attendance, or doing things that make sense.... FWIW I was being sarcastic, I want the SLT to stay where it is! Just pointing out the hypocrisy of that explanation.

With UND coming into the conference to give the league another in-state rivalry it doesn't make any sense not to give those games special consideration when it comes to scheduling. I doubt Western Illinois fans care what day of the week Denver comes to town, but UND-NDSU and USD-sdsu should always be weekend games. I'd like them to be double headers, but that might be asking too much

He needs to be asked about conference expansion. Eventually Fort Wayne will leave when a Horizon spot opens up, probably sooner rather than later. Is UMKC really the only option out there? Ugh. How about UNC and starting Summit football (though I really don't want to do that)? Or New Mexico State? Or will one of the Dakotas need to start a baseball or men's soccer program so the conference can offer that sport and we can continue to meet the autobid requirements of the NCAA.

Based on the interviews I heard from Douple I came away with the impression he was more of a reactionary commissioner rather than proactive.
