Indiana State was behind Eastern Kentucky 16-0 before rallying for a 36-16 win. Good result for the strength of the Valley as Indiana State was the 5th and last team in the playoffs for the conference.
South Dakota State by the eye test is definately winning the battle against Montana State but the score is only 24-20 Jacks at the half.

The Jacks win 47-40 in a game where heavy snowfall was coming down for most of the game. The Jacks were the better and more deserving team in this one.

I will predict an SDSU victory over NDSU next week. Should be a heck of a game.

Northern Iowa beat Stephen F. Austin 44-10 to give the MVFC a 3-0 record in the first round of the playoffs. 2 of those wins came on the road.

It really bugs me how they don't actually seed all the teams in the playoffs, instead setting up the bracket however they feel like under the guise of regionalization. Now there are 4 MVFC teams playing each other next week, which is definitely not an accident. I bet that if they set up the bracket to prevent conference rematches (like they so in the basketball postseason tournaments) the MVFC would have 3 of the semifinal spots. The rest of the FCS is miles behind the MVFC.

NDSU took a late lead and held off Coastal Carolina today by a touchdown.
Why is it that a 1 loss Illinois State team has to travel to a 2 loss Eastern Washington team in the 4/5 battle. The MVFC is obviously the stronger conference and therefor I would think Illinois State would have the tougher schedule. I think Illinois State really got screwed over in the seeding process. Maybe Eastern Washington got a boost by their past history in the playoffs rather than by their current season credentials. I don't really cheer for NDSU or SDSU to win but I am definately going to be routing for Illinois State to come home with a win in that game.

I am pulling for Illinois State to win it all, and they've got a 14-10 lead in the second quarter right now it looks like. Wouldn't it be something if we have a MVFC championship game? At least it wouldn't be a rematch.

Illinois State ends up winning 59-46, a very impressive performance. They looked like they were going to make a rout out of the game up 25 in the 4th quarter, made even more impressive by playing on the road (on one of the ugliest playing surfaces ever conceived no less). Next up is a game at top seeded New Hampshire this Saturday.

I think Illinois State can win against New Hampshire. I admittedly don't know much about New Hampshire but they didn't dominate in their quarterfinal win. NDSU has come back to the pack a bit but they are still good enough to squeek out home playoff games. Sam Houston has been doing it on the road so I think that will be a good game in Fargo next week.

Thanks CF. Forgot that game was on last night and missed it as we were doing some last minute Christmas shopping. I see the replay is on now on ESPNU late in the 4th quarter, but the Bison won handily at 35-3 and will face the winner of today's game between #1 New Hampshire and #5 Illinois State on January 10th. Today's game will be aired on ESPNU at 2 pm. I'm guessing New Hampshire will struggle all day long to put pressure on the Redbirds' QB as their O-line is just plain huge. This should be a battle between the MVFC elite on the 10th.

Illinois State rallied for 15 fourth quarter points to defeat New Hampshire 21-18 to set up an all Missouri Valley Football Conference National Championship Game.
I am squarely in the corner of the Red Birds for the all MVFC title tilt.

It is great that two MVFC teams are in the national championship game! Truly the MV is the SEC of FCS! Reminds me of the old NCC when the Coyotes met the Bison for the D2 title. After that they didn't put the NCC in two different brackets.
