The USD women lost 58-53 to Wisc.-Milwaukee, and it sounds like this was definitely a defensive battle, which doesn't surprise me because from what I know, the Wisc-GB and Milwaukee teams are all about defense first.
Tempsett Wilson had another good game with Amber Hegge out again with that wrist injury.
However, more impressively was Jodie Boss broke the single-game record for blocks with 7, which was set in 1987 (I figured Mandy Koupal would have it but nope). She is definitely proving to be a force defensively.
Freshman Stacia Robertson just missed a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds, both career highs. I think she will only improve as the season goes on and I thought she was a GREAT get for the team.
Offensively, USD only shot 32 percent, and defensively, the Coyotes held Milwaukee to 22 percent, but they 22 fouls and went 28-31 from the free throw line. Jeez, that's a killer right there.
USD is at home against Upper Iowa on Tuesday. Should be a gimme game and I would expect Hegge to sit out again.
