The Coyote women are on the brink of their first Summit League regular season title. They have their eye on the price and won't let this opportunity slip away. They are too close to turn back now.
I am taking the Lady Yotes 88-63 in a runaway.
Tip is at 1:30 Saturday afternoon in the first half of a big double header.

15:27 to go in the first half 6-5 Western Illinois. The Coyotes have come out a bit cold.

34-32 Coyotes at the half. The officials made a bad call at the end of the half. They gave WIU a basket and a foul as time expired. They checked the replay which clearly showed the ball left the Western Illinois players hand after the time ran out. They counted the basket after the replay anyway and gave the free throw. On top of that they added 0.2 tenths onto the clock as well. Ridiculous.
The Coyotes stiffened up the defense quite a bit during the last 10:00 of the half. Western Illinois is playing well so far but I like the Coyotes chances in the second half if they keep playing the way they did towards the end of the half.

52-43 Coyotes about 12:00 to go in the second half. They have hinted at running away with the game up 12 a couple of times but WIU hit a three to close the gap a bit.

55-51 Coyotes as the Leathernecks are on a run. USD missed an easy layup and Western Illinois has gotten some kind bounces off the rim.

Coyotes up 4, with under 4:00 to go. Western Illinois ball. This has definately not been easy. I have never seen a team get as many kinds bounces off the rim as I have seen from Western. They are also hitting alot of tough shots.

78-75 Coyotes win, this was a tough game the whole way. WIU missed a very tough three at the buzzer. Congrats ladies on the title. That was intense.

My gosh was I ever wrong thinking that IUPUI was gonna be the tougher test. I really think it was a little flukey that the Leathernecks were able to stay so close. They just got every roll is seemed on the rims and there were alot of tough shots in there. Western Illinois did have more rebounds and shot just a little better but they had 17 turnover to 8 for the Coyotes.
This feels like a major sigh of relief to get the win. I didn't think it would be so close. I figured the celebration could happen a little earlier than right at the buzzer. The bottom line is that no one can now take away the title from the Coyotes.

WIU is a darn good basketball team and they have a way to penetrate the Coyotes in a manner that a lot of teams don't. Congratulations Coyote ladies and also hat's off to WIU for showing an awful lot of heart and determination. The tournament is going to prove to be exciting.
