I thought I heard somewhere that the mens teams still might have a chance to make a post season tourney. Is there any truth to this or are they done this year.

I believe there are four post season tournaments on the men's side so about 1340-140 teams get in. 68 in the NCAA, 32 in the NIT and probably 16 or 32 the other two. It is not unkown for a .500 team to get in. Omaha did last year with about a .500 record. And some of the bigger schools are to proud to go to the lesser tournaments. So I would guess that you will get in somewhere.

Jeremy Hoeck was confident that we would find ourselves in one of those lesser tournaments. I really am not much of a fan of these (how much pride does the CBI champion take in their title?), but I'm all for more Coyote basketball. I would have to think any further games for the men would be road ones.

More basketball is more basketball in my mind. It gives the team a chance to get more games in and therefor more experience. It gives the seniors a game or more to extend their careers. The goal is to get to the NCAA tourney or maybe the NIT but anything is better than nothing.

With that being said, I think the Yotes will be in the CIT or the CBI along with Oral Roberts if they want to accept the invite.

You mean USD isn't playing Denver tonight? Seemed like a money prediction to me!

Denver, do we have to even mention them. They were putrid in this tourney. I am still steaming that Vegas gave the Pioneers a higher percentage chance of winning the tourney as they did USD. The Coyotes at least made a good showing for themselves.

IPFW, a team with a very similar resume to USD, has accepted a bid to the CIT.

Another point of view: A day after the Minnesota Gophers lost in the B1G tourney, Coach Pitino said if they did not get an invite to the NIT (he wasn't optimistic) it was unlikely they'd play in any other tourney.

Minnesota doesn't derserve to go to the NIT. They are a CBI or CIT worthy team so they should accept the bid since that is where the level of the program is at currently. Maybe the Coyotes can get a shot at Williams Arena but if they don't want any other tourney I guess that won't happen. I don't know why programs turn down those bids. It gives a team more experience playing in games so why not take the potential of a few more games to make the team better.

The thing that bothers me is that it goes to show that a lot of coaches are just in it to win and don't care about their athletes at the end of the day. Playing college basketball is a dream come true, and to rob them of a few extra games (which is the last time most will step onto a court) is just stupid. Swallow your pride and admit that you weren't as good as you wanted to be and let them extend their careers and play a few more games.

CIT field is out and USD is not in it. Last hope for postseason play is the 16 team CBI tournament (which does not seem set yet).

You beat me to it by a couple of minutes Yotes, I just saw that as well. The CBI or bust the way it looks. IPFW got in the CIT which is a team that USD tied with in the conference standings and beat them 2 out of 3 times.

A little research shows me that the CBI actually charges teams $50k to host every game in their tournament. I'm not familiar how these events work, but that seems incredibly steep for a third tier tournament.
