Wrong board. You need to go to SDSsomethingsomething.com for people that actually care about this post.

The upgrades look great at the stadium, but I'm sorry that logo is bad. Making it bigger doesn't help.

I mean really how do you honestly market a Jackrabbit. Unfortunately they have been stuck with that nickname for their entire existance. UND isn't the one that needs a new nickname, SDSU does. There are two kinds of rabbits. Ones that are scared to death of anything that approaches it causing them to always be running away and ones that are plastered on the road because they were too stupid not to get run over. It's hard to go down the road anymore and not see multiple rabbit carcasses squished on the road. Now that is a name that I want my University nicknamed after. Feel free to move this to smack if need be.

Yet every major college sports analyst loves the nickname and the mascot.....I'd take something unique that stands out rather than say a Coyote or a Bison for that matter (even though NDSU pronounces it different). How original!

Yeah, I can't really think of any other college that has the nickname Coyotes or Bison (though Marshall goes by Thundering Herd, so close), so I would say both USD and NDSU's nicknames are pretty unique as well.

If you insist on having something as tame as a damn rabbit for your mascot don't try to make it look fierce. It looks like it is closer to crapping itself than bringing any harm to anyone.

Look up Kansas Wesleyan and Bucknell University for starters. I see USD marketing has launched a new campaign. Writing seriously here: I think the marketers have to get a plan and stick with it so that it gets ingrained in the minds of fans and potential fans. If changes are made, they should be incremental, always building on the marketing foundation so that a "brand" is created and reinforced. USD has a recent history of changing marketing ideas: U dot; South Dakota's team come readily to mind. I'm not sure where the new FeaRed is going so I'll watch with interest. Personally, I'm not sure why you guys have to fear Ed. You fired him several years ago and I don't think he's coming back. [I would not have started this thread. But, that's just me.)

jackjd--Your online rabbit is not up to bunny code and I thought SDSU was the Aztecs?? The bunnies need to do away with that abbreviation--to 99.9% of people in the country it does mean San Diego State.

I agree those two universities in San Diego cause some confusion (the other being, of course, the USD Toreros which is D1 but plays no scholarship FCS football...they usually compete for the top of their league.).

Kansas Wesleyan? Who the heck are they? Bring some obscure NAIA school to the discussion. Are they even NAIA? I assume so since pretty much anything ______________ Wesleyan is NAIA.
Bucknell is a school that I have actually heard of but didn't know they were the Bison. Of course, that's NDSU's problem, not ours. Actually, it's probably Bucknell's problem since nationwide NDSU is the most well known Bison. Shoot, Bucknell probably pronounces Bison the wrong way, with an 'S' instead of a 'Z'.

You asserted (at least suggested) USD was the only college using "Coyotes". So, I gave you an example. You don't like that one, how about California State University - San Bernardino? There are others but you can look them up. U of Manitoba (in Winnipeg) call themselves the Bisons -- with the s! (although I think they're a little inconsistent...I think I recall seeing some of their uniforms with just "Bison").

No, I asserted that USD was the only RELEVANT college using Coyotes. Then you come up with some obscure Kansas school and one of the 50 schools in the Cal State system. Both IRRELEVANT schools. Not to mention a Canadian school. All you have proved is that you know how to use Google, because without Google nobody knows the nickname of any of those schools or that they even exist.
