I'm not a big Mick fan but I think these articles are fair and well written.

I thought Mick put together some useful information leading into camp in his articles. Learned about expecting some true freshman to see the field, position changes (Jet Moreland LB to S), depth at DL with Krolikowski leaving, LB depth with youth and a couple of healthy returnees who might help (Staples the JUCO transfer and Litrenta). Starting to gear up for camp and a new season to see how it all plays out..

Perhaps I've missed it in other threads, but has anyone taken a crack at a projected depth chart? This, of course, is a thinly veiled ask for someone to do the work of producing one

Scrolling through the roster, I noticed that true freshman RB Marquiz Simpkins is no longer listed. Can anyone shed some light on his departure? I'm under the assumption that Calvin Strong is sitting out this year. If that is the case, it is frightful how thin we are at this position.

Anyways that leaves us with Bouma and Kilgore before we get into the freshmen of Gunn, Fredrick, and Shamar Jackson. Gunn may be the only of those 3 physically ready for the beating that the MVFC entails. Everything Ive seen has strong sitting this year.

Similar situation with Strong as we had with T Starr. Grey shirt? Not sure if that's the right term for it or not, but he can't workout, practice, or play with the team for the time being.

Hopefully with the same results as we had with T-Starr.

As each day passes, it gets harder to remain cold and rational. Really excited to see if we can’t pull off some positives this year. Was Joe left a rough hand? Yes. Are we at a facility and resource disadvantage? Absolutely, and that should be aggressively addressed. But no one can accept those as excuses. Hunger and innovation drive success, and there are similarly situated programs that emerge every year in college athletics behind bold, dynamic leaders. Joe is a proven winner, and it seems that what he’s doing now will at least create a strong foundation for his successor. I really hope we start to see some of that shine through this season. We’ve got some experience and nothing to lose by going out each week playing loose and throwing haymakers. Go Yotes!

yotemeal I agreed with almost all of your post except the part about the fact we're at a facility disadvantage. Other posters have occasionally mentioned this too. I understand the modern day comparisons but am I the only old timer who remembers Inman field (which was outdoor to the west of the student union) and the "new" armory for basketball?? Those were facility disadvantages even in their day! I know Joe remembers Inman field since he and I were both freshman in 1967. Even with those facility disadvantages we still had many successful basketball and football teams!! Yes the dome needs to be undated and it will be but sometimes we need to appreciate how far we've come. And maybe it's just me but if I was a football recruit how excited could I really get if I was going to get to "practice" in a nice new building at Xdsu? I wouldn't care if it was a $400 million building--it's for practice.
I'm very excited about the football season and wish the VERY BEST to Joe, his staff and THE YOTES!!!!

The Dome needs updating in order to keep up with the times and put us in a good position for the future. There is nothing wrong with the Dome as an FCS facility as it sits though. There are plenty of FCS programs that wish they had as nice of facilities, some in our own conference. This whole DakotaDump mystique has become an internet accepted fact due to the constant bashing by SDSU fans, and to a lesser extent NDSU fans, in all corners of the internet where the FCS is discussed. It has taken on a life of its own. Anecdotal proof? When Montana came to town the fans I partied with commented on how nice the Dome is and that they didn't expect it would be that way. No doubt they were pre-conditioned from all the internet bashing.

The Dakota Dome is a clone of the UNI Dome with the exception of permanent seats on both sides of the field. I don't believe there's any talk of the UNI Dome being past it's prime. The sooner we install permanent seating on the student side we'll be be able to hold 16K also. Now if we can only draw that kind of interest...
