It felt strange typing the "1/5th point," as it should, because there's a lot of basketball left. Nonetheless, I thought it might be interesting to compare some USD stats to those of our future Summit League mates (before anyone chews me out, yes, I am aware of our current membership in the Great West...I'm just looking ahead). Anyway, here's where we stand concerning three select offensive categories. It would also be interesting to look at rebounds and turnovers, but I'll leave that to someone with a little more ambition.

I realize there are 20+ games remaining on the schedule, but bad free throw shooting bothers me at any level of play, and our free throw shooting is not good. I hope as team chemistry develops and we're not playing teams called Marquette, the quality of our looks improve, which should boost our field goal percentage. I sort of suspected this, but the stats confirm it; Jordan Boots is by far our most accurate shooter from beyond the arc (12 of 21 .571) By comparison, Jake Thomas is 17 of 54 (.315) and Louie Krogman is 11 of 34 (.324).
I think it pretty much goes without saying that we're missing Tyler Cain, but I think Gruis has good upside, and I'm excited to see how he continues to develop alongside Andreotti. There are only two seniors on the roster; it will be nice to bring some experience into our first year of Summit play.
