USD hosted Santa Clara in the Dome, and used a 15-2 run to end the game to seal the deal with a 70-53 win.
Impressive considering this is a team that had problems holding onto leads or usually has to come back to win the game. This game, USD put Santa Clara away late!
Also impressive was Amber Hegge's performance. She scored 20 points in her first game back from a fractured elbow. She missed the last four games. 15 of those points were in the second half.
Annie Roche went 4-4 from three-point range in the first half and scored 16 points to get USD the lead at halftime and scored 18 points in all.
Jodie Boss put together her first double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, so it was a well-rounded effort. She also had three blocks.
The defense held Santa Clara to 33 percent shooting as well.
Santa Clara hasn't won yet this year, so this is suppose to be a game USD should win by double-digits at home, and USD did just that. Definitely an encouraging sign for a team that is still coming together.

The women looked pretty descent tonight. I heard today that Hegge was planning on trying to play tonight. I thought she looked really tough for not really practicing much so far. She and Roche both played really tough tonight, as did Boss. Good win for the coyotes. They have a couple of good tests left yet this week at home. Should be good games.
