Hey, here are a few of the photos from the game. They are done by the Press & Dakotan. If it seems like I favor them when I post links in the future, it's because I think Jeremy is a LOT better writer than Mick, plus the P&D gives USD better coverage, including better live chats. I also thought Jeff Tobin from the Sioux City Journal is a better writer than Mick, but the SCJ doesn't seem to be around much. However, the photos are by Justin Rust, and he took over 500 photos. Very nice. spotted.yankton.net/galleries/index.php?id=357213

I hear ya on Mick. He is a nice guy but I don't think he has 100% of his heart into the USD beat job. He seems to take the negative or non believer attitude when it comes to USD. On the other hand Terry is kind of a homer for the Jacks and gives them every benefit of the doubt. I think Stu Whitney likes the Yotes the most of any of their writers.
It's almost as if the Argus purposely puts someone on the USD job to slant it negative and SDSU slanted positive. As much as Minnesota was a favorite it was not a 1 in a million shot that USD was going to win. Mick seems to think it's closer to 1 in a mil vs 1 in 20 to 40 which was my opinion going in.
Oh well the Argus couldn't ignore an obvious situation where they almost had to have big coverage of USD.
I think The P&D definately does better covering the Yotes.

Ask TV or be critical of him and he will tell you that he is not an employee of SDSU. If you were to air gripes with Mick, I am sure he will end up telling you that he works for the Argus Leader and not USD.
Nice photos. I would think the Yanton Press would do a better job since they own the Vermillion Newspaper and are the closest daily newspaper.
I think the sports coverage of the Yankton Press of USD beat that of The Brookings Register, who has had trouble hanging on to sports writers.

I totally realise that both writers are employees of the Argus but there certainly seems to be a far greater dedication from the Terry towards SDSU vs Mick and USD. Terry is full time towards SDSU and Mick is not full time for USD. That is an issue right there but that is for another time and another thread. Just look at the blogs that both put up and that will tell you right there what the Argus thinks of both schools. SDSU may have a bigger fan interest tan USD. So what does SDSU average 12,000 per game in attendance. This year USD should be close to 9,000. That says SDSU has a bigger following but not by that much. It isnt such a bigger following that SDSU should get about 5-10 times more blog time and at least twice as much coverage overall. The coverage is a far greater differential than the actual fan following.
Lets hope the Minnesota game put USD on a much higher pedastal with the Argus from here on.
