South Dakota may have found their next coach and we might find out on Monday.
Chieftans reporter reports South Dakota interviewed Colorado State Pueblo coach John Wristen for the Coyote opening. The team is now out of the playoffs and reporting a 2nd interview will take place on Monday. CSU responding as if he will take the South Dakota position.

Being your first two posts, this feels like a troll, but I will say the resume of Wristen and his assistants is quite impressive. The OL coach was the OC at USD in 2008.
Wristen worked under Gary Barnett at CU and Northwestern.
I would be very open minded to this, but I am a little skeptical at this point. I can't find the "reports" referenced in the OP. Feels very similar to the CFL guy.

I will wiait for a legitimate source, rather than a wing nut with his very first post, to report breaking news.

I think that's a different, younger John Wristen. The guy at CSU Pueblo is in his 50s. The guy in your story is in his late 30s.

Not sure why the link to that story is dated October, 2015 on my google browser and there is no date at the top of the link, but I did see the 1999 date below.

The Chieftain is Pueblo's daily paper. If you try to search the paper's site, nothing seems to jump out.
The CSU-Pueblo OC has a South Dakota connection according to one article I read. Gordon Shaw was an assistant at USD during his his career. (I don't know if that's correct or not.)

he is one of the candidates. our board is being flooded with this information right now also. thought to let you know. he is a great coach and im sure he will bring most of the staff. We are projecting his replacement if it does happen. I also know that CSU will do whatever it takes to keep him.

I have little doubt that he is a candidate. In fact, his resume checks all of the desired boxes.
There was more than enough chatter in Minneapolis about Herbster conducting airport interviews on Monday and that he would be returning with a coach. However, I believe there are multiple interviews to be conducted tomorrow.
I believe the hope is to have a formal announcement by Wednesday. It will be great if everything comes together in the way administration desires.

Ok didn't know about the other candidates. We hope he stays. I hope we sign him to a long term deal. We were sure he was going to stay here. He said numerous times this is where he wants to be and loves the community and wouldn't leave.
So we will wait and see. At 9pm we have a local sports show that will talk about this topic so we will see whats the latest. i will update you.

I am impressed at what this guy has done at CSU-Pueblo. The school did not field a team from 1985-2007 and he has been their only head coach since restarting the program in 2008. The team went 4-6 in that inaugural year, 7-4 in the second, then 9-2, 11-1, 12-1, 11-1, 14-1, and 12-1 with a national championship last year. Very impressive to see him build such a successful program from the ground up. His D1 experience is as RB/TE and Special Teams assistant at Northwestern, Colorado, and UCLA.
I don't doubt that we have interviewed him and may even have him as one of our finalists. I'm waiting until a bit more information materializes before I believe this one though.
