I think this is a very fair question to ask. Despite many thinking there was no way we would get a coach as good as Joe Glenn the Nielsen hire might make some people change their mind about that.

The purpose it shows is that people live in the now. If a poll like this was conducted a month ago no one would vote that they wanted Joe out. Now I would assume that at least half the votes would go to the keep Nielsen camp.

Joe didn't have a lot of success on the field. His contribution was off the field. He was able to bring back many donors and fans that left because of Ed. Especially around Vermillion, Ed had burnt many bridges which turned away a lot of the local fans and businesses. People didn't want to support USD football at all because they believed by supporting the team, it would mean they were also supporting Ed and his behaviors. Parents also didn't want their kids to play football at USD because of Ed. They heard and knew what type of person he was. Instead, they went to SDSU or NDSU. Glenn brought those people back to USD football. More fans and more donors means more money. The program was going down a very dangerous path. Glenn was able to turn the ship into the right direction. Yes, his winning percentage wasn't good, but his contributions off the field greatly outweigh that. If we have 4 more years of Ed, I think the football program would be a spot where it couldn't be fixed.
