Thanks Yotemeal for the information.
A couple things are interesting - SDSU didn't stay within a budget - they over spent by $98,545. From an expense standpoint, SDSU will have approximately $1.7 million in expenses over and above USD every year because they have baseball, wrestling, and equestrian. Also, these numbers are from FY10, which means July 2009 to June 2010 I believe. This season you saw an increase in attendance at football because we had better opponents. Therefore, FY11 will have better numbers.
I'm curious what the General Activity Fee is? SDSU charges a lot, or receives a lot. Whichever way you want to look at it. Is this a fee that is added onto tuition so SDSU students pay more in fees than USD. Also, now that USD is in a conference other than the Great West we should get some shared revenue now.
On the scholarship page, I'm curious why SDSU has so many more scholarships. Many of those are federal or state funded. That's some serious money they get from the government. A lot more than USD. Is that because of Ag based studies?

Is this a fee that is added onto tuition so SDSU students pay more in fees than USD. Also, now that USD is in a conference other than the Great West we should get some shared revenue now. The General activity fee is added to all STATE SUPPORT courses at all institutions. At USD this year it is $35.30 per credit according to your catalog. At SDSU it is $24.70 per credit. Since SDSU has a much larger state support enrollment, for 2009 SDSU had 9080 full time equivalent students compared to USD's 5688, SDSU generates considerably more dollars. Further, the Universities allocate the general activity fund differently, not all goes to athletics. How much is distributed to athletics was limited to the % what they were allocating before the schools went Division 1. State Support courses are with a couple of exceptions, courses taught on campus, it does not include online instruction or the university center in Sioux Falls for example. USD has a larger self-support programs than SDSU by a margin of 1208 to 1117 full time equivalents as of fall 09. I don't have the fall 10 numbers readily available but they would be comparable.
