Thanks for joining the board and thanks for your support in the thread that a certain admin has to try to play god with and shut it down. Shouldn't the posters as a whole decide when a thread has run it's course. Any thread that prompts discussion is a good thread in my opinion. Why suppress options on a board that is lacking in them in the first place.
I am quoting your post below
"Well said coyote fan. I have been reading the posts on this blog for the better part of the last two years and I have to say that most of you guys are so pathetic and a bunch of pu$$ies. Coyotefan is one of the few to be upfront and real. The rest of you have been a bunch of cheerleaders and accept mediocracy. I understand your point Eddie but what if u were not performing at your job, how long would you still be there and how many excuses would people make for you? Do you guys understand the point of blogs? I'm so tired of all the raw raw and everyone being afraid of saying how they really feel bc so many of you get upset if anyone implies that usd football is anything other than gumdrops and candy canes. Wes was a good player but not a good coach. This isn't grade school and not everyone gets a participation ribbon. Michael Jordan was a superstar player but I don't think anyone feels like he had been a very good owner. Anyway, I want to say thank you coyotefan for being honest. Let's all try to be more honest with ourselves and coyote athletics and quite making excuses and being satisfied with mediocracy. As alumn and fans it's our duty to hold the university to a higher standard. Can't wait to hear the backlash from all of those cheerleaders out there".
This post gets my nomination for post of the year. More people needs to say it like it is instead of suger coating everything Coyote red. Yote 05 I will have your back in support for you to make any post that you see fit and I agree with you that a variety of opinions should be welcomed There is a core group on this board that wants to control what everyone else posts and if people don't share that opinon they get chastized for it. It's ridiculous quite frankly. I could swear some people if they took diversity training would fail it before the class even got started. The whole purpose of college is to be taught to voice your own opinion. That is one of the core beliefs of college in the first place. College environments are one of the more diverse environments that there is in society. I invite everyone to bring their discussion to the forefront and do it without adding insults and personal attacks. I don't know how many times I have posted about topics and many of the people that read them try to turn the topic about me and not about the topic being discussed. I prefer to stick to topics and everyone can have their opinion about them. If someone disagrees do so in an adult way.
The topic that was closed down was regarding the thanking of Wes Beschorner for what he has done for USD. First of all he came to USD on a scholarship and was given a free ride through school to play football. Both parties benefited from his playing football. He got a free education and USD got a good quarterback. No one owes anyone anything. He used USD to get an education and USD used him as a good football player to promote to the program and to win games as a program. Now that he is coming off of being a coach what better way to thank him every week of the year than the good old paycheck that he got for doing a job. USD gave him a free education and gave him alot of money for being a coach. Was that money that he got paid really deserved compared to the money received by similar D1 FCS MVFC programs. I guess that is up for debate.
If people want to thank Beschorner that is up to them. For those that want to bring up some very valid criticisms that is also up to them. It's called voicing opinions and people don't need to apologize for that. If Wes didn't want to take criticism than he shouldn't have agree to be a football coach as it comes with the territory just like is true of a politician or other public careers as well.
Many Coyote fans tend to be cut from a different cloth than most fans of other teams. There are many fans, administrators, media members etc that consider the Joe Glenn era a success. That boggles my mind to no end. I think many fans tend to forget that this is a football program not a church choir. Being a nice guy is irrelevant for the most part but so many people continue to bring up the nice guy approach when defending Glenn and Beschorner. Being nice guys should only be brought up when a football team is winning, because when it is not such has been the case do we really care how nice a guy is. Look at Twins fans and their growing despise for Joe Mauer. The guy has no passion, collects a huge paycheck and just basically goes through the motions on the field. He is a nice guy as well but do you see their fan base really caring. What matters is his production on the field which is abysmal at best for the contract he is making. Nice guys that are not producers are irrelevant guys in my book. USD's nice guys simply didn't get it done when it comes to the measuring stick that most teams fans judge their program by and that is wins and losses. Why is it that at USD we are looked at so differently. At other programs what is considered unacceptable is for some reason considered acceptable at USD. Just look at Mick Garry, even he has low expectations for USD. In one of his recent articles about the Coyote Football program he said that if Nielson was basically a .500 coach maybe a little bit better than it would be considered "very good". Very good my ass. Very good would be at least at the level of where SDSU is at. They win 5 or 6 games in the Valley every damn year and many people want more. If they went 2 straight seasons without winning 5 games Stig would be out of Brookings so fast that we wouldn't even see him leave town. At NDSU if their coach had 2 years in a row of winning 8 games or less he would be on the hot seat as fast as would be possible. At USD somehow if we had a coach win 4 games in the MVFC for 2 years in a row people would be dancing in the streets of Vermillion. The expectations for this football program are so incredibly low. It all starts with the fans. If the fans are willing to accept mediocrity than that is exactly what they will get for the most part and is exactly what has happened for most of the last quarter decade. No expectations mean no results. Simple concept.
So we flip the page to a new and promising era of Coyote football. But damn lets not hold this new administration to such a low standard. Next year Nielsen should be expected to win 4 MVFC games and years after that we should be looking at SDSU type results. Decades of going 1-9 against them better not be tolerated in any shape or form. If the program cannot beat SDSU at very minimum 40% of the time than that is simply not good enough. To make up for the last quarter century I would like to see the Yotes win about 13 or 14 of the next 20 against them head to head. Aren't we kind of due for a streak like that. Please no more of this "good guy" talk because that is what losers say about their teams. I only want to hear about "good guy" talk if the team is winning the majority of their games because if not the "good guys" can hit the road and join the church choir.
So Yote 05 thanks for joining in and giving us your perspective. Don't allow the naysayers stop you from making your opinions.
