Not sure if anyone caught the high school basketball games on ESPN last night, but here's an interesting tid bit:
Findlay Prep (ranked #4 nationally....and is less of a school than a basketball factory), the team scheduled to play O'Gorman December 30th at the "Mike Miller Classic" in Mitchell (http://www.mikemillerclassic.com/schedule.php), traveled to Texas and defeated Houston Yates 95-69. Yates (ranked #18 nationally) had been riding a 66-game winning streak, which earned them national championship honors last season as well as back-to-back Texas 4A state championships.
Very first Findlay Prep possession of last night's blowout: rise.espn.go.com/Boys-Basketball/Videos.aspx?id=0a1b2c23-b435-45e2-8fc6-b1686cb476bb
Findlay Prep's back court consists of 6'2" Texas signee Myck Kabongo (#2 point guard recruit in the country, #10 national recruit of any position) and 6'3" Arizona signee Nick Johnson (#7 shooting guard recruit in the country, #23 national recruit of any position). Findlay Prep also boasts 6'6" small forward Amir Garret (#16 small forward recruit in the country, #63 national recruit of any position), who has committed to St. Johns. I think they also have a guy who just signed with UNLV.
I believe O'Gorman is expected to have a good season in South Dakota's highest class (they may even be ranked #1), but having watched last night's Findlay Prep game, it had me wondering the number Vegas would place on the OG/Findlay Prep showdown. I'm curious what everyone thinks. Extra info: Texas does not have a shot clock, yet FP put up 95. South Dakota has a shot clock at the AA level, which I assume will be in play at the tourney in Mitchell.
My guess: Findlay Prep favored by 59 points.
