Thread title = killing two birds with one stone. Alternative: Midland/Doane Well, we were shorthanded last night against Midland U., but walked away with a 93-69 victory. Jake Thomas was out with a sprained ankle and Kendal Cutler (NY native) is apparently bogged down in the East Coast travel nightmare. Jordan Boots had a nice game. www.argusleader.com/article/20101229/SPORTS0203/12290329/1002/sportsOne thing that stuck out from last night's game was, unfortunately, BAD FREE THROW SHOOTING. 17 for 35. We didn't even meet our dismal season average of 66 percent. Winning is a great deodorant, but that's something we really need to improve upon.

I think if we expect to win close conference games we have to shoot free throws better.

I think if we expect to win close conference games we have to shoot free throws better. Absolutely. It will bite us. IMO, it already has. I look back to the first Loyola Marymount game. We had a chance down the stretch to tie up the game, but clanked the front end of a one and one (we were 12 of 19 for the game) Think about the NCAA basketball tournament and how often otherwise solid teams are brought to their knees by poor free throw shooting.

Agree on the free throws - absolutely no excuse for any college level player, D1, D2, D3 or NAIA, to shoot less that 80% on free throws.

Looks like another easy win last night Did our defense let down in the second half, we gave up 50 in the second half!
