I wonder if any of our bunny fans that were sooo excited about their multi million $ practice facility a few years ago are wondering--boy we should've done a dome?
Well enjoy!!

I wonder if any of our bunny fans that were sooo excited about their multi million $ practice facility a few years ago are wondering--boy we should've done a dome? Well enjoy!! Okay, I'll bite. I am one fan so this is one fan's opinion. There are days when it is nice to play/watch football indoors and in my opinion this is one of them. Realism and practicality often trump idealism. The facility to which you refer is really part of a three piece complex (four with the wrestling facility currently under construction). It includes the indoor track and football practice area, the lockerroom and training complex, and the outdoor football stadium which seats over 19,000 fans. The total cost of these three parts is remarkably similar to the total cost of each of the recently built arenas in Sioux Falls and Rapid City. Each of those two seats a maximum of around 12,000 fans, easily excess capacity for the coyotes, but far short of the Jackrabbits regular season demand. And, of course, you cannot play football in a facility where the playing surface is the size of a sheet of ice for hockey, or a similarly sized rodeo arena. The last time I watched a football game in your dome I sat in the front row of the east side. I had to lean over the rail to see game action near the sideline. The DJD stadium has great sight lines. We are able to have six home games in a typical season. For some reason you seem to often settle for five. If I were a potential recruit, this might be important to me. Add up any two of our regular season crowds this season and the number exceeds your total season attendance. Add any three and it probably exceeds you total season capacity. Our stadium isn't the largest in the conference. It isn't the smallest either, like yous is. The Dana isn't perfect in every way, but I'll take it. It works out just fine for Jackrabbit football. By the way, thanks for showing so much interest in the Jackrabbits. Some days it is almost like SDSU has two fan boards.

LOL Like I said enjoy the weather tomorrow if you're going!! I saw how many "bunny fans" were in the stands last week!! With your other three SD and ND D1 schools you're the only one without a Dome so enough said!!
If you GIVE ME A SECOND I could think of a lot more bunny tidbits!!

And how many fans will be in the stands of the DD watching their team play Saturday? Of all the trolls on a fan board I didn't think we would have the "crowd attendance" troll. You've had to reach pretty far down the well to find something I see. Especially from a fanbase that would kill to regularly have 6000+ people attend a home game.

Remind me how the USD women did against SC last year? And BTW, how did that game go against UT Martin? You know, the one with only 8 healthy players? Let's put it in even more perspective, we played the #1 team in the country closer than your women played Santa Clara... I think you might want to avoid women's basketball comparisons. And frankly football ones as well. Maybe go with volleyball, plenty to bash SDSU about on that.

Last year USD did not have good game against SC so we agree.
Check the year before. SC v USD at SF. Lady Coyotes lost by 10. Their meeting in SC Yotes lost by 13 (and SC made a 3/4 heave before half and another deep 2 with 1 sec left on shot clock in 2nd half). Your other game against SC you lost by over 20. So we win this series compared to rabbits!
Since you brought up VB you guys really have to do much better after losing 16 straight matches to USD!!
USD also has the longest unbeaten streak U v state spaning 29 yrs and a record 11 Ws and 2 ties.
The trouble with most bunny fans is they have delusions of grandeur. Turns out they're just delusions!
Our women's BB team have no returning starters from last and 3 out with ACL injuries How many starters do you have back? And your record is 7-5??
I suggest multiple layers starting now for tomorrow!! Why couldn't you guys raise enough money for a Dome anyway??

Why couldn't you guys raise enough money for a Dome anyway?? I wish I knew how much it would have cost to build a 20,000 seat domed football stadium so I could address your question. Although, 25,000 to 30,000 might be a safer estimate to allow for growth.

With your other three SD and ND D1 schools you're the only one without a Dome so enough said!! If you GIVE ME A SECOND I could think of a lot more bunny tidbits!! Sadly, I won't be at the game tomorrow. I had planned on going prior to this current blizzard. Normally, my round trip to and from DJD stadium from my home is about 13 hours of windshield time. I have attended five games per season for the last several years. Several of those games were played in freezing or snowy conditions. Under current conditions, this weekend's trip is no longer practical. Even though I am part of the drop-off of the number of fans on the colder days of this football season and post-season, I do see it as a legitimate concern. These last two weeks saw a decline in average attendance in Brookings of over 9,000 fans compared to the regular season. By comparison, during the playoffs, the coyotes saw a decrease in average attendance of only 6,354 fans compared to the regular season. Your decrease is almost 3,000 fans less per Saturday than ours, and you did it without even having any games. Congratulations! This is probably USD's greatest accomplishment during the 2022 football season. By the way, you seem to use the words, bunny, bunny fans, bunnies, etc. as if it is an insult. I don't know the current attitude on the use of these words on campus today, but several decades ago, when I was an SDSU student, we used words like bunnies as terms of endearment for our teams. There was at least one organization on campus that used the word "bunnies" as part of its name. My granddaughters absolutely love their bunnies. It makes me smile when you use such endearing words about my teams. Thanks again for your thoughts and support.

I salute your honesty and support of your team and glad you like bunnies. And rabbits?
You mentioned SDSU. 99% of the country thinks that means San Diego State University. ESPN and other national sports shows report scores that way. You guys are So Dak St. Need to get the word out so you can update your gear. Maybe that's why your bb court doesn't have SDSU? Always confused why not SDS at least since you guys claim to be state? We're SD!
Anyway thanks for visiting us!

This really isn't smack but posted here so some of our state friends may see.
Bear with me but first a little history (it will make sense at the end).
USD and state competed prior to FCS in DII. Playoffs started for DII in 1973. Coyotes qualified that year and lost 1st round @ Boise State. state qualied next in 1979 and lost in first round and at Yougstown State. It was their only playoff appearance in DII. Yotes qualified again in 1985 beating Central State (OH) 13-10 in 2 OTs in the Dome. I was there--tremendous defensive game!! Coyotes lost next @ NDSU 7-16. USD was in the playoffs again in 1986. Winning @ UC Davis 26-23 and @ Troy 42-28. Then the Coyotes became the FIRST SD team to play in a FB championship game! Their foe NDSU. Yotes lost to Bizon 27-7 (Yotes lost regular season game @ Fargo 12-21). Key turning point in game was when Tyrone Braxton returned Yote punt for TD. He played for years for Broncos as all-pro DB. state made it to their 1st national championship FB game in 2020 losing on last play TD to Sam Houston 21-23.
Coyotes are 4-4 in DII playoffs and 1-2 in FCS.
jacks 0-1 DII playoffs and 17-11 in FCS playoffs.
Besides some interesting histor, my main point is the bizon have been a thorn for many teams in DII and FCS playoffs. They are very difficult to beat especially in a championship.
If the jacks beat them in the championship game it will be a very good accomplishment especially sweet since they also defeated them in the regular season!
To some of my state friends, if you win be super excited but not arrogant.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!!!

Thanks for the recap of things that happened before I was born (I'm 32), and surely isn't relevant today.
