A Des Moines radio station has reported the former SC Heelan RB is going to transfer to USD. I have heard a ton of rumors so I want to see if there is any confirmation to it.
He is "currently" at Iowa and played a good amount last year and did a good job too. He would redshirt this year and play next year if he gets enrolled soon enough from what I know.

Yes, definitely a lot of smoke on this subject, but very little fire thus far. And given the media's tendency, at least outside of this state, to confuse USD with SDSU, even if Wegher truly is transferring, there's no reason to believe USD is the obvious choice. Yes, Vermillion is closer to Sioux City, but his dad played ball at SDSU. I'll wait for some cold hard facts.

(a bit of sarcasm, sort of) now that USD is the best program in Minnesota, North and South Dakota what choice did he have but to transfer to USD. Whether he comes or not Ed said that he has already received about 17 calls from recruits interested in USD after the Minnesota game.

IF, If any of this is true, I think USD would be the odds on favorite over SDSU just because it is closer to the Dunes due to what Brandon's got going on in his life. Also, maybe he goes to B School and wants to transfer to the best B School in the Midwest.
All that said, who knows? Lot's of rumors.

I don't know how much you put behind the SCJ's story there. Why wasn't the question asked why hasn't Rick talked to his son in three weeks. Plus if he hasn't talked to his son in that long, what does he really know? Adam Robinson is looking like a top 10 back so far and is a redshirt sophomore. In the three weeks he hasn't talked to his son, a lot has changed, on the field and off for Wegher. I take this article with a huge grain of salt, just like I always do with what Terry writes at the SCJ. He HATES USD.

I don't know much about Brandon Wegher, so I want to make sure everyone knows this is not intended to disparage the young man....
However, my gut is asking: why are there so many rumors surrounding this guy? Where there's smoke there's fire. Is he a guy that brings controversy with him? Don't know, but that sort of thing can mess with team chemistry.
So, my gut feel is, although his credentials look outstanding…I’d forget about him.

Mr. Wegher received his release from the University of Iowa. college-football.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/24156338/26362304Yoteforever mentioned on the bunny board that Mr. Wegher has been spotted on the USD campus. Are we truly courting him? What's the word on the street? I, for one, would rather this thread not spiral into a mess of character judgment. I have no personal knowledge of Mr. Wegher's situation and, in fact, I'm largely unaware of the rumors that call his character into question. I would echo what several SDSU posters stated: if the coaches find Mr. Wegher to be an appropriate fit, that's good enough for me. Let the speculating begin....again

B Wegher has never gotten into any sort of legal trouble, that I am aware of. He left Iowa due to personal issues. I think it's widely know that he recently became a father.
The initial rumor was that he wanted to transfer to Nebraska but a condition of his scholarship release was that he could not receive a scholarship at another Big Ten school (including Nebraska). I would imagine if he wants to stay close to home and play football either USD (proximity to Dakota Dunes) or SDSU (father is a former player) would be logical fits.
I have not heard about him being at USD, but I would think he'd need to decide by next semester where he wants to go.

Wegher is an interesting fellow, and if people are going to question his character, well, they need to take a LONG look at what is happening to the Iowa football program right now before they think Wegher is some sort of bad dude. With the DJK situation, Wegher is getting out at the PERFECT time. It sounds like Iowa could get nailed as I have heard upwards of half of the team declined a drug test and the half that did take it failed. Ouch.
Anyway, back to Wegher. I have heard the USD campus stuff too that he has been here, plus I have heard the SDSU stuff.
The thing I caution about with the SDSU stuff is that his dad went there. When this was all going on, his dad was questioned a lot and said Wegher was staying at Iowa each and every time. There was a problem with this - his dad hadn't talked to him in about two months. If Wegher chooses SDSU, I think it's because he likes it up there more than USD.
I have heard the rumors that Wegher's girlfriend/kid's mom goes to USD. I don't know how factual that is either, but it's a possibility.
This is an interesting situation, and I wonder how soon he is going to make his choice. Both would be great fits for him, and he technically used his redshirt this past year, so I don't know if he would have to sit out?
Let the transfer rumors begin again lol.

He would not have to sit a year of he transfered to either USD or SDSU. Your Iowa rumors are even more exaggerated than the ones from Hawkeye Report. My guess your sources are a bunch of ISU fans fantasizing. Actual source: sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5919292Just so you know, they were pretty much all quashed at the presser in IC today. ARob was suspended for the bowl game for violating team rules but is welcome back next year and Hampton is transferring. With two repaired knees he probably sees his playing time all but gone. Yeah, the DJK thing is pretty bad, but let's not paint a whole team with a brush due to one player's stupidity.

Expect BW to be in Coyote Red next season. Looks like the number 3 is available for him too. Or did they retire Stephan Logan's number? This is just a hunch.

BTW, in that story on Iowa on ESPN's website, Barta is said the test isn't perfect and they don't know if they missed one or 21 players. That's pretty telling to me. I think since the IC paper sits on their hands whenever something is happening with this program that's not positive, we will never know the whole story.
Seriously, DJK was VERY popular in IC and even I liked him and thought he was a good guy to route for. How did this slide by for as long as it did honestly? How did Ferentz not know this at all? I am not buying it, just like I didn't buy Nebraska's antics in the mid-90's and Miami's program under Jimmy Johnson.
Watch 30 for 30 on the SMU thing and then tell me how clean you think Iowa and some other programs come across now to you, especially Cam Newton.

If Iowa was truly a dirty program, like you indicate, there would not have been a press conference and this whole thing would have been swept under the rug. The DKJ story suprises me as well but I think it is very unreasonable to believe these college head coaches can be expected to know everything about their players lives. Players have to report every year where they are living, what they are driving, etc. Background work is done. DJK did not raise any alert because he had not moved, he lived in the same house, he had some drug dealing preppie from Johnston move in as a roomate. Iowa admitting there are holes in their drug testing policy and saying they are going to take steps to shore it up is a big step many other schools would not admit to. Because they didn't really catch anyone but identified holes they can't really put a number on if there were others, but they are taking steps to close the holes. The reality of this is these are college kids who, shocking, experiment with drugs. There are more pot smokers roaming college campuses than you think, and USD is not immune from this.
Also, you need to understand the IC Police (I'm referring to other things like underage drinking, etc), they are Stalinistic over there. They make the VPD look like slackers. So when you hear about players getting busted, you have to understand they have strict enforcement in IC where many other college towns are more liberal. Meaning players/students are doing these things at other colleges they just aren't getting caught/prosecuted and publicized.

Getting back to the thread subject, I heard that BW is enrolled in classes for the spring semester at USD.
