Removing the New Mexico game and figuring the rest of the games we have played in both conference no no -conference, here are some statistics to ponder:
Category. Opponents. USD
Rushing yards. 1311. 1258 Average / game. 187.29. 179.71
Passing yards. 1672. 1514 Average / game. 238.86. 216.29
Turnovers. 17. 12 Average / game. 2.43. 1.71
Penalties. 49-418. 42-361 Average / game. 7- 59.71. 6 - 51.57
Time Possession. 226. 193 Average / game. 32.18. 27.42
Scoring. 2r0. 238 Average/ game. 34.29. 34.00
Formulate your own opinions, but if we indeed are not up to speed on talent with the league as an average, I would suggest to you that we are being coached up. Once we are on or with talent, I would suggest to you we will win/contend in a big way.
No excuses for giving up big leads, but look at how many underclass men we have playing / starting.

What this coaching staff has done is impressive. We very nearly found ourselves tied atop the MVFC standings with three games to go. The future is very bright if this staff further improves the level of talent on the field.

yoteforever: Great information and I believe you are correct, this coaching staff is doing a great job with what was in the cupboard when they arrived. Look at WIU, this is the team this staff built with a few years of recruits. If anyone has visited WIU, you know their facilities are poor at best, I have seen better weight rooms in high schools. Their school along with the rest of the Illinois schools are in a very poor financial situation and they do not have as much support you see at USD. Not a great draw for recruits, but they helped develop one of the top teams in the top FCS conference. Extrapolate that to what they are doing here, they have great facilities, including a terrific weight room and training facilities, a dome, hopefully new locker rooms and coaches offices soon, Coyote Village for the athletes to live, and a university in a much better financial situation. This school recruits itself, so imagine what this team will look like in a few years? With some young players already contributing along with a few transfers, this staff has us competing in every game minus the New Mexico game. Rome was not built over night and neither will this team. They will go through some growing pains, including tough losses like the one to WIU, but they continue to improve. Since joining the MVFC, this team has gone 6-26 from 2012 -2015. With another win they will have their most victories in a single season in conference. Pump the brakes, sit back and enjoy the ride! Go Yotes!
