Don't want to start a political war but just want to know how many in here have voted. Don't need to disclose who you voted for just wondering who has voted and who has not or will not vote.

I voted last week. By far the most interesting things on the ballot for me were the proposed amendments - specifically the proposals regarding a governing body for our tech schools, the alternative minimum wage for minors, and the two proposals regarding limits on interest rates that lenders can charge (working in a bank this is especially pertinent to my life).
I really hope that the tech schools are able to get their own governing body or join up with the existing board of regents, I believe it will make them stronger and more able to serve the needs of South Dakota.
I also will state that I strongly disagree with the idea of a separate minimum wage for those under 18. Sure most minors don't have to make a living for themselves, but they are absolutely capable of producing $8.55 an hour work.
For president I voted third party to voice my discontent with the two major parties. I really feel they both failed America here. Not a fan of the two-party system, do not believe they represent the public's best interest.

Anyone that voted for a third party better be ok with Trump being president because that is the way it is looking right now. The way I look at it even if some one disliked both major party candidates there is always a better option. But a third party vote is a half a vote for the major party candidate that one happens to be against a little more than the other. People that dislike the government are having their say tonight. I just hope the change that they are looking for is the right change for them. It certainly remains to be seen. I also hope those that didn't cast a ballot today or previously don't bitch and moan at the government because all non voters really shouldn't have a say if they didn't execute their privilege that democracy allows.

It's South Dakota. This state will vote for a broom with a bucket for a head if it won the Republican nomination. If we were in anything remotely resembling a swing state I would have voted for one of the candidates with a real shot at winning.

The interesting thing is that a broom with a bucket for a head would be head and shoulders above almost all SD Democratic candidates!!

Yeah, ahh, it was a historic election so we'll let some of this go but let's not let the political talk get out of control.
I will simply say that I saw this coming back in July. I'm driving across Minnesota, which is usually pretty liberal, and there were Trump signs everywhere across the countryside. There are a lot of upset people out here in middle America that feel that they are being left behind. They are put off with the divisiveness, the social justice warriors, the Black Lives Matter, the football players kneeling, just tired of all of it. They just want an opportunity, they just want jobs.
Trump spoke to the people in the Rust Belt who have seen their manufacturing jobs shipped overseas. In the end it was those people who turned out to elect him. Look at the states that went for him that decided this election, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, maybe Michigan. All the mud slinging back and forth, neither candidate was perfect, but to bring back an old phrase "It's the Economy, Stupid". Yeah, this is what this election was about, people seeing their manufacturing base and their futures slipping away. Trump offered a solution and The People are willing to give him a shot.

I voted weeks ago and one ballot issue that caught my attention was Amendment 22. This change, billed as the "anti-corruption" initiative, in part provides state (taxpayer) funding for politicians seeking statewide office.
The amendment passed and now I wonder what effect this will have on other areas of the state budget, including our state-supported institutions of higher education. South Dakota is not a wealthy state and it will be interesting to see where and how budget cuts will be felt since funding politicians running for office seems to be such a high priority.

I agree... guessing this Amendment may receive a Court challenge as the the Supreme Court has repeatedly stated that this is a 1st Amendment issue via Freedom of Speech. I, for one, do not want my tax dollars being spent to fund campaigns.
