www.southernpigskin.com/socon/final-fcs-playpff-projections/Look at USD's peers and where they are projected for the playoffs this year. Why not include UND in the MVFC topic as they are probably going to be in sooner rather than later. #2 NDSU #7 SDSU #8 UND All projected to be top 8 seeds and all projected to have first round byes. When it comes to USD it's always the same conclusion, woulda, shoulda coulda. It's always some excuse. It's always the same old same old. the talent, the lines, the defense, the coaching, whatever but I know one thing I am tired of excuses. Blow a lead here, blow a lead there. The Coyotes could average 50 points a game and could lead at half by three or more touchdowns in every game and still find a way to not finish with a winning record. The schedule is going to be no gimme next year. The conference road games are brutal. at Illinois St, at Western Illinois, at NDSU and at UNI. Plus hosting Youngstown, UND and SDSU. Next year it is far from a guarantee that things will get much better. The Western Illinois game is going to haunt this team all off season. Not only did the Leathernecks get revenge on Nielson but they pretty much ruined the Coyotes season in the process. Maybe the Yotes shouldn't have been so excited to get into the MVFC in the first place because the resolve is not there to compete week in and week out in this conference. The Coyotes are crumbling to the competition. But wait the Kool Aid drinkers will always say we are getting better, we are competitive, we will get there. I agree that in year 2036 the rebuild will finally be complete. How can anyone not be completely PO'd beyond belief what has happened once again to Coyote football. It's the black cloud that will never go away. But I will once again be forced to be patient. I am still waiting.

I still can't believe that UND got a playoff seed. I was not impressed with them at all and that game in Grand Forks was more of a case of USD handing them the game than UND earning the win. IMO, the Big Sky must be weak for them to have won it.

IMO, the Big Sky must be weak for them to have won it. The Big Sky is weak and their scheduling sucks. There are 13 teams in that conference so every team avoids playing 4 of their conference opponents. UND did not play the other undefeated Big Sky team (EWU), or Montana (though they were down this year). They also didn't look outstanding against the dregs of the conference. I think USD comfortably makes the playoffs out of that conference. UND will be exposed at any rate.

Always difficult to judge a team based on one game, but based only on their games against USD, I would rank the other 3 Dakotas in this order: SDSU (almost makes me throw up in my mouth to put them here), NDSU and UND.
But UND did beat Cal Poly who beat SDSU. However, if memory serves me correctly, I believe Cal Poly's best RB was out with an injury for their game against UND.

Great story, no one cares You hit the nail on the head, no one cares and that is the root of the problem. If we did start caring about lagging behind the other Dakota schools maybe something would actually change. Often times and administration will only do the minimum to keep their alumni happy. If the alumni don't care much about not making the playoffs year after year then the admin doesn't really have any pressure to do anything other than status quo.

We can whine and cry about the big sky all we want but I think they did more than hold their own against the Valley this year. Poly over SDSU, UND over USD. E Washington with a good effort at NDSU. They proved on the field that they could compete with and or beat the Valley programs. The Big Sky isn't as deep but their top programs proved worthy.

The bunnies are wearing their all black uniforms today. Since when did black become the dominant color in their color schemes. "Go Big, Go Blue (errr go black?), go black jacks?"
The only thing I envy of theirs is that Under Armour is their main uniform/clothing sponsor. Adidas for the Yotes has been less than impressive as our main uni/clothing sponsor.

Only about 10:00 to go and it is 7-7. SDSU gets the ball after a touch back. I think it is kind of ironic that the Jacks are actually more built for a dome with their passing game. Villanova seems more built for a bad weather game. The Jacks being out doors in December in South Dakota actually hurts them with now they are built. The Jacks probably should have built a dome. There are far fewer then 10K fans at the game which is what they were hoping. It's closer to 5K then 10K.

Sounds like a few players smoked some weed.
I don't see what the problem is here. Marijuana is legal in so many states now. Just a matter of time before it's legal nationwide.
