About that jug, I say we send our OL and DL up north and bring it back home. Doesn't look like there's anything in Brookings that would stop them.
Just maybe do it before tax season.

According to this recent article by Molly Sequin at NCAA.com, these are the oldest Division-1 rivalries in College Football: (link)1. Yale-Princeton ---------------(1873)* 2. Yale-Harvard ----------------(1875) 3. Princeton-Penn --------------(1876) 4. Princeton-Harvard ----------(1877) 5. Yale-Brown ------------------(1880) 6. Harvard-Dartmouth ---------(1882) 7. Laffayette-Lehigh -----------(1884) 8. North Carolina- Wake Forest (1888) 9. Miami(OH)-Cincinnati -------(1888) 10. Cornell-Columbia -----------(1889) 11. USD-SDSU----------------- (1889)**12. Navy-Army------------------(1890) 13. Minnesota-Wisconsin-------(1891) 14. Minnesota-Iowa------------(1891) 14. Purdue-Indiana-------------(1891) *green text indicates an "Ivy League" or "Little Ivy" or "hidden Ivy"school. **this is incorrect. The SD game was played in May of 1889, the Cornell game played in November of that year. We should be the 10th oldest, not 11th. So the USD-SDSU game is the:-10th oldest FB rivalry game in D1 -3rd oldest D1 involving a public school -2nd oldest D1 between two publics. -2nd oldest D1 non-Ivy League -Oldest "U vs State U" game pretty impressive.

Only you, kiyoat, would research the dates of the games played in 1889 . Did Stig coach in that first game?

Another interesting fact in the series is that USD has the longest unbeaten streak in the series with 13. There was a 6-6 tie in the first game and 6-6 tie in 1904. USD won the other 11. The Coyote streak ended in 1919 (obviously they didn't play a game every year in those days).

Before we hear Jackboy pushback, we should clarify that USD has the longest "unbeaten" streak, as opposed to "win" streak. That 1904 tie broke the win streak.

To be super specific--The Coyote unbeaten streak started in 1889 with the 6-6 tie with wins in 1901,1901,1902 tie in 1904, wins in 1905,1906,1910,1911,1912,1914 and 1915. state won in 1919 so the unbeaten streak spanned 13 games and 30 years!!

Touchdowns probably varied in value from 1 to 10 points during that stretch, and the winning team got a sack of oranges because they were a rare delicacy.
...Is that how the Orange Bowl got started?
