Two halftime deficits, two stirring second half comebacks. The women played so-so for awhile but what a run it was. If I remember correctly they struggle with this club. In the second half USD went on a 10:00 span where they outscored UTPA 26-2, WOW!!! Game, set and match in one long fell swoop.
The men just couldn't get it going and it appeared for most of the game that it wasn't going to be the Coyotes night. USD was 8-0 in conference home games coming in. Well make that 9-0. It appeared that the USD crowd actually willed the Yotes to win. I left the dome with a half gone voice, just as it should be. I commend any other fan that walked to the parking lot with a hard time speaking normally because of throwing out the voice. I am talking from good, hard, loud and just simply respectable cheering. I will credit Jim Abbott. He was into it and cheering as well. Good job Jim, good to see that from the Pres. If that doesn't set an example I don't know what does. If Mr. Abbott can give it up so can everyone else. It was a bit flat in the dome for alot of the game but when things came to push and shove we all came through tonight. The fans, the team. Great experience and well worth the price of admission tonight. I feel very satisfied leaving town after the doubleheader.
I do find it interesting that Charlie Westbrook was conspicuously absent for most of the second half. he was a bit careless with the ball. I am not sure about the D but Boots sent a bit of a message by letting him ride the pine when the game was on the line. Louie was unbelievable when he was needed most. Cluth from the arc, clutch from the free throw line. A big reason for the win. Cutler also did a nice job. The Yotes need to work on those turnovers. There was alot of careless play, especially in the first half.
I love the gutts that this team displays on many nights. They could have easily packed it in and allowed the Broncs to leave town with what was probably a deserved win. What can you say though 4 tough close games with those guys and luckily 4 heart stopping wins.
Great stuff from the Dome.
