In large part, the comments to that article sum up its flaws. Centenary/SUU: addition by subtraction. USD is a state school that strengthens the conference's core.

Yep, Oakland, ORU, IUPUI and to a lesser extent NDSU haven't upped the conference profile at all. Maybe USD needs to win in the weakest conference in the country before spewing this type of rhetoric. As for the article, the Summit sits at 17 in the RPI right now and minus Cent and SUU they move up to 16. USD will initially drop the conference RPI but I have faith that USD can become a mid-pack school with an RPI around 200, a big improvement over the two the conference is losing. Now if we could get WIU (article writer's school) to get their act together, moving above 14 would open the door to an at large bid league in certain years under certain conditions.

USD did win the GWC regular season and tourney last season. USD become a mid pack school? Okay, sure, I think we'll strive for, and attain, a much higher level than that.
