VOTE: which of the 2 would you rather have to beat NDSU? 1) Strevy at 75% 2) Simmons 100% 75%? At that percentage the starter is too limited and hurts the team... When the starter is 90% he can resume his role, but at 75% I’d go with the backup, especially when you have a high caliber player like Simmons... The coaches are vigilant, I’m sure they have a contingency plan for whatever scenario they go with...

There are 2 regular season games and Strev is a senior. He's not going to leave anything in the tank. Time to go all out. Banged up or not there is no more protecting a player with play calling. We are in have to win mode.

I don't know how, and I don't know who will be our QB. But some how, some way, we are going to win this game. We play like our hairs on fire.

Coyotes in must win mode. Strev is our guy until the coaches or trainers say he isn't. You have to shoot your bullets while you've got the chance. I think Strev starts in Fargo and plays well. This game comes down to turnovers. In both losses we have not won that battle. That's valley football, teams don't need much, if any, help to beat you. So when you turn the ball over, you generally lose. If we win the turnover battle in Fargo, we will win the game IMO.
It will be a battle, and a physical one at that. I trust that our boys will be up for the challenge. Fight or flight, Coyotes always fight!
Yotes win on the back of our leader Streveler going for 100+ yds rushing, 300+ passing, 4 combined TDs...0 turnovers
Go Yotes

Since this game outweighs 2017 a little in this post, it got the nod!
I have to explain that I generally do not read or listen to media at all after a loss for at least a day. Yes, I'm licking our wounds and wait a bit more to go thru that whole grief stage thing. To tell you the truth...I didn't even think I'd be posting tonight but then I checked into NDSU's site and...LMFAO!!! If you want to read about us in their site...you'll have to select the "Mangy Dog" thread. AAAAAAAAhahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!! Now that brightened my spirits a bit!
...and do you know that those fans aren't all that bad? I actually felt better after reading about their game against us than reading some posts here. Jeeesus! Did some of us jump off the bridge or what? Yes. For the sake of fairness...the gloom n doom posts may very well be just calling it "like it is". I got news for those...so are the cup is half full posts. That's just as calling it the way it is.
Back to the NDSU site...one post said how they thought Strevelor was the best QB in the FCS. I can't disagree with that? Can any of you? NDSU, without question, lost the game because they turned the ball over just about as much as us. Hmmm. Sounds like a game that ball security is going to be job #1 for both teams. Seems to me, that would be a very conservative, low scoring game. Hmmm...
I got to thinking how I was raised. My dad a was a depression baby that went thru WWII. He brought us up by giving you 10#s of work to do and giving you 1# of time to do it. OVEREXPECT! ..and somehow, you stop thinking too much and just go out and do it. How'd you do that? I haven't a clue! Now I know this seems way out there and what the heck does that have to do with our upcoming game?
Well...JUST DON'T THINK ABOUT IT TOO MUCH!!! I do think the coaches will have our team conscious of holding onto the ball. But I DON'T think to the point our team is too conservative.
At my son's HS, before each homecoming game, us parents would write a personal letter to each of our sons. I wouldn't actually talk that much about football. I would talk about how much I respected my son for the man he is becoming. That we, as a family are so happy and proud of/for him. How he has been given that special thing in life that a lot of people are sometimes never given...the talent and the love for what God put you here to do. Roll with that and the rest of your life will fall into place.
...ok...a little out there again...I only write this because...
I think some of our players do read this board and I want them to know this from my heart. "To this above all, to thy own self be true, and it must follow as the night and the day, thou canst not then be false to any other man". Just go out and play the game you love! Go out there and have some fun and play it the way you were created to play it. You all are on that field because of it. If you play your heart out, there's no way you ever hold your head down. Go play with your heart out and if you loose, look that other person in the eye and know you're a winner. Don't doubt your abilities...because to tell you the truth, there really is that much of a difference between players at this level. You're all good.
I think in the beginning of the season the team was more "footloose". I think they may have tightened a bit. I don't think that's them. They're the team that has some fun, doesn't think about the score, and when they look up they are ahead by 50! Yes...a 2 game skid...it's an oblong ball, right? It happens. Don't let it get you down. You can't live in the present if you're always thinking about the past. Forget it. It's history. Go have a ball and you'll never have to look up at that scoreboard!!!
...as an example...I think this post was out there and I hesitate to push send...but wth!

I've got to say, I am REALLY optimistic about the last two games. I don't think anyone will know what to make of NDSU this weekend, other than we can all agree size and talent will be pretty similar. (Not sure if they have our speed or not?) We haven't lost in Fargo in like 4 or 5 years. And if their fans were leaving the game early last week, that is a sign that they whole crew could be down on their daubers a bit. Our UNI game was very fluky, and we barely lost on the road. That is the sign of a team that is still bringing it.

Gopheryote I like the optimism of your post but you are incorrect when you say "we haven't lost in Fargo in like 4 or 5 years". Actually we lost there in 2012 and 2013 before snapping their 26 game MVFC home win steak by beating them in 2015. That was the game where Carson Wentz (now the Philadelphia Eagles QB) was leading their offense. So like many Coyote fans I'm optimistic we can beat them again if we play the way this team is capable of playing! GO YOTES!!!

VOTE: which of the 2 would you rather have to beat NDSU? 1) Strevy at 75% 2) Simmons 100% This is a simple question to answer. If you want to have a chance to win your last 2 games you start Streveler. If you think you are in with 4 losses start Simmons. The coaches see that he is hurt and still feel he is a better option. Why is that so hard to understand?

gopheryote--not to belabor the point but your post said "4 or 5 years we haven't lost in Fargo" so your info was misleading and since we didn't play them there in 2014 or 2016 it would be hard to lose to them "there".

Agree that the coaches will play whoever gives the team the best chance to win (Streveler).
