Coyotes win 75-71, nice win tonight to keep somewhat alive in the conference race. Need to win again at New Jersey Tech on Saturday. UND lost by double digits to the Highlanders tonight.

USD law is right. This is a big win and we need another one Saturday.
Congrats also to Louie for hitting 1000 points. Crazy that he and Hegge both hit 1000 on the same night!

No doubt this was a must win and USD needed to have a complete offensive effort and I am guessing that's what happened? Congrats to Louie for getting 1,000, he is having a pretty good year and for some reason I think it's kind of gone a bit unnoticed because last year killed some hype on him. To score 1,000 as a junior, impressive. Now he needs to do it again Saturday.

You know it is interesting. In the last 5 games USD has a 4-1 record. Discussion on this board relating to the 4 wins = about 20 posts. Discussion on 1 loss = 3 pages or about 45 posts. Huh!

That is just how things go sometimes. The wins do need more recognition. It's kind of like a relationship with a boss. If you are doing a good job you may get a pat on the back and an atta-boy. You underperform and it's a 30 minute conversation on all the things that must be done better, etc. etc. etc. The Yotes set the bar high in the Great West Conference. It was going to be hard under any circumstances to equal or better a 11-1 conference record a regular season and conference tourney title and a CIT birth. That is about as good as it could have gotten last year. I will always remember how special last year was eventhough some will kind of deflect it as being in the weak Great West or whatever else could have been done to diminish the accomplishment. The Yotes won a D1 conference in their transition. Call it what ya want but it was a rewarding experience to me as a fan.

Congratulations Louie Krogman on his achevement of scoring his 1000th career point. This feat is to be commended.
I just wanted to ask does it alarm anyone that they struggled against such a weak team and Gruis, an extremely efficient post-player only took 3 shots and Cutler 0? I guess what I'm really thinking is that this should've been a very comfortable victory.

A win is a win and sometimes certain teams, no matter the record, can be a tough match up. However, there does appear to be a certain concern with ditching the inside game early on and launch contested threes without any drive and kick. Before the season started Coach Boots stated this would be the strategy and it seemed to make sense. The guard position we presumed was our strength. The inside players were unknown but Gruis has, imho, proven he can bang with GW post players. I think it is time to adjust the strategy. Not a complete overhaul but maybe shift some emphasis to getting it inside and drive to the basket.

For sure a win is a win. I can't agree with you more on not knowing what you have for big guys to start the season. Gruis has proven he is a force on the inside and can handle D1 basketball already. He has a great touch with the basketball. He does need more touches.
