Hope my previous post didn't scare anyone off an Oakland bet. They controlled start to finish. I was relatively impressed with SDSU in their opening round game against IPFW, and they still deserve credit, but they had no business beating Oakland tonight. It wasn't simply a matter of SDSU underperforming and Oakland playing out of their minds. Oakland is significantly better. Scary good. If they get a decent seed in the NCAAs, they should be a trendy upset pick. Scary good is right. Oakland is clearly the class of the league but the good news is: much of the Summit League is improving, following Oakland's leadership. The League's RPI continues to rise. IUPUI men will get a post-season tourney (not the big dance) bid and it appears SDSU men are considering an offer too. Coach Nagy told his charges to take their shoes and find a gym while they're away on spring break. Now, the real reason I'm posting: how many of you watched yotemeal catch a Summit League T-shirt from one of the cheerleaders? I saw it. The guy was pumped,...I think he high-fived everyone with 80 feet of him, and he hugged at least three of the Oakland Cheerleaders (who wouldn't?). I went to the first Summit Tourney in Sioux Falls two years ago and attended every game, men and women. Last year I could only attend one day. This year: the entire tourney...went to every game again. No one has mentioned it but one plus is the Sioux Falls Arena sells beer during the Summit Tourney. That doesn't happen at every venue.

All of this is true. I put the triangle up right in front of my friend (an NDSU fan) and grabbed the t-shirt out of the air like Larry Fitzgerald. The Oakland cheerleaders were so amazed they all wanted hugs and autographs after the game. Beer is awesome. On a serious note, the alcohol situation at the conference tournament level must not be controlled by the NCAA? I believe all venues are dry during the Big Dance, correct? I know the Quest Center was dry several years ago when I went down there for the opening rounds of the NCAAs

Jack JD, what you call a plus, I call a minus. I know I am in the minority but I wish they wouldn't sell beer at the tourney.

Hmmm....I happened to enjoy drinking a Summit Pale Ale at the Summit League Tournament. Let it flow!

If we beat the Sioux, we would be in the CBI. I saw somewhere someone was saying SDSU might get into it as well. Would the committee dare match up USD and SDSU? I think that would be huge. It would for sure be a big draw and money maker.

I am with Coyote Fan, in that some folks come alone and drink more then their quota and then try to drive home. Its a hazzard that no one needs to have to deal with after a game and heading home in traffic.

Can everyone drive home safely? Thats the problem, some who already have problems with alchohol and one drink is not enough and more than one is too many. One does not have to be staggering around to be a problem. Alchohol impairs judgement. The judgement you need to drive home safely.

And don't forget all the tailgating at football games either. They should just close all the bars too.

They should just close all the bars too. It wouldn't bother me one bit if they banned alchohol period but it's a free country and people can drink if they want to. I really have no problem with those that do so responsibly. It's just not very often a thing I do. I think it would be great if they banned beer at all sporting events but money drives practically everything and many people will be willing to spend whatever price is set to drink while they watch a game. Heck if they are going to allow people to drink they should allow them to smoke weed as well. I really don't see much of a difference.
