I'm not that surprised we aren't hosting to be honest. I would love to have the game in Vermillion, but it's so hard to bid on a game and expect a lot of people to show up on a holiday weekend, especially students (not that their turnout is great). Very likely that most teams lose money on the first week's games. Also guessing if we hosted, we may very well be in NDSU's part of the bracket the way it appears the committee regionalized teams. Holiday weekend and 3 straight days of basketball in the pentagon. Not sure what kind of financial commitment we had to make to the pentagon for the showcase but I'm sure it played a role in a lower football bid. If there was a home football game Saturday it would cannibalize all the fans for the basketball game Saturday afternoon and probably on Sunday too. I was told the Southland Conference pools money to help with getting home games. That is why USD was outbid.

A home football game on Saturday would have decimated attendance in Sioux Falls I was told USD made a competitive bid and wanted to host even though it would have critically hurt Pentagon BB game attendance. Just got beat by a stronger financial bid.

We have gone to plenty of playoff games in the past and I never have heard of the Southland pooling money for bids. We usually have some big boosters that put up money to guarantee the bids. That is probably what happened at Nicholls. Doc

So pumped for this weekend!!!
Leaving tomorrow afternoon to party in the French Quarter then head to Thibeadoux for the game Saturday afternoon (tailgate first with Howling pack).
First time in New Orleans. I'll be wearing my yote colors. Anyone else roaming Bourbon street tomorrow night? Any recommendations on where to go?

All of bourbon street is a blast. Just stay on main streets. Don't cut through an alley or back street. Trouble there. You'll have a blast. See you at the tailgate. I'll be wearing red

I don't have a clue. Who do you think it is? I heard one of the Mannings but have no clue why

The Manning/wrestling reference is a good one but you're on the wrong track.
Hint: A Coyote has four toes on its paw.

I was going to state the four fingers represented the number of post season victories for the Coyotes - would have been five but their thumbs cramped up.

So this game will be on ESPN3 tomorrow at 3. I was wondering if anybody knows if it will be picked up on a DirectTV channel as well.

Answer to the question I posed earlier. Four fingers/four toes, the "Four" gesture represents the Coyote Paw. We had been talking about the Ric Flair 30for30 documentary and, after a few libations, were throwing up the Four Horseman/Coyote Paw sign accompanied with a loud WOOO!, BOOMSHAKALAKA! is also acceptable, or just a grin. When we were in school we were all wrestling fans. There were a few "Four" symbols thrown up back in the playing days, especially popular with the linebacker crew. I know, dumb stuff, but we were just having a little fun with it.
Bison have their little horns symbol. Might be a cool to have one of our own.
