went out and had crawfish for the first time last night. They were so good, we got an extra 3 pounds and took them to the boys last night and chowed them in the hotel lobby with locals showing them how to eat them. What a blast. Ran into a nichols fan in the restaurant on the way out and told them we were going to the boys hotel to have them twist the heads off some crawfish so tomorrow they could twist some heads off some linemen. The boys are lose and confident.
Beautiful weather. Not a cloud in the sky, probably be astound 80 at game time with the hint of a slightly breeze. They have whay I consider a large HS stadium. Crowd won't be a factor.
Have the coyote red glittered Mardi gras hat on him.1 short stop at the waffle house and its game time people!!!
GAEUX COYOTES!!! BOOM SHAKALAKA BOOM!!!!

brought the coyote to the boyou... don't think I'll wear him around the pond outside our hotel though since I spotted at least 3 alligators in it. I'd like to go home with my head still intact!

Safe travels for everyone who is making the trip to the game today. And also, safe travels for everyone walking across the street from the watch party to the MBB game, although that is for a very different reason...

I've got very little insight into what I think will happen today, but one thing that keeps coming up is speed (Nicholls apparently has it). I'm curious to see what happens when Streveler gets to the open field. Somehow in the forum of public opinion, Streveler is no longer fast, just looks fast (is that a thing?). When he came to USD he was the fastest guy on Minnesota's roster - not the fastest at his position, but the fastest period. Where in the world did this nonsense of a 4.7 40 come from?

I watched some limited highlights of Nicholls and they are going to be tougher than what the line says. I think we can move the ball on them mainly passing. They gave up a ton of big passes with wide outs being wide open (kind of like USD against NDSU). I think we can tire out their defensive line with up-tempo and then be able to run on them. I saw from one of their writers that they have mostly played average to slow tempo teams and do not rotate their defensive line that much. I do think their offense is better than what I have seen them get respected. Their QB #9 is a pass first guy, but has some decent wheels to be able to pick up first downs and has some zip on his passes. Their best WR is #3 JeanPierre and he is a skinny athletic player (6'1" - 185). Their RB's are not very big, but can hit a hole and gain yardage. NSU runs a pretty basic offense with power, but also runs some speed option. This should be a fun game and a great opportunity for the Yotes. I think we can win this one 34-24

Other notes:
NSU has 4 DL players with at least 5.5 sacks Their best DL is #97 Dotson (6'3" 250) with 12 TFL, 6.5 sacks Their punter seemed to have average stats, but has had 3 blocked which I thought was noteworthy. Their FG kicker #49 Fonseca was 18-22 with 7 over 40 and 3 over 50 yards. He also has 32 touchbacks on kickoffs. He seems to be very solid. Their main RB #29 Taylor (5'9" 180) has been injured and it is his first game back. He is backed up by #30 Irvin (6'1" 220) and is more of a power back and #26 Smith (5'7" 185 who is a shiftier back.) OL size: LT (6'2" 280) LG (6'3" 330) C (6'2" 290) RG (6'2" 290) RT (6'5" 295) Their best DB is #31 Abraham (6' 200) who can come up and tackle well, has 72 tackles, 6 TFL, and 2 FF.

Anyone that thinks Streveler isn’t fast should watch his run that was called back last week against SDSU. Tremendous acceleration.

14 MILESTONE WATCH: Van Roekel can become the ninth Coyote to reach 100 career catches with three on Saturday. He is also 27 yards shy of 1,500 for his career.
15 RECORD WATCH: Streveler is 379 yards shy of the Valley’s single-season, total offense record set by Illinois State quarterback Tre Roberson in 2014 (15 games). Also, USD’s offense at 520 yards per game would establish an MVFC single-season team record (502.7, Southern Illinois, 2004)
The Coyotes have faced no fewer than five nationally ranked FCS teams in each of their six seasons in the Valley (since 2012). Not included in those numbers are six games against FBS foes. That means 41 of 68 games (6 of every 10) over the last five-plus years have been against either a FBS team or a nationally-ranked FCS foe.

Terrible throw by the NSU QB leads to a USD TD. Couple of great punts inside th NSU 15 for Schutt.

That was a good PI by the Nicholls guy - would have been complete at the 1 otherwise.
