Wondering about people's opinions on the various club/tournament basketball teams in the Sioux Falls metro. My son is 11 and he is wanting a greater challenge than his recreational/ YMCA team.
Cost is a factor because we aren't rich and also have a daughter in competitive JO gymnastics. I do want to give him more opportunities to reach his potential in a sport he seems to have some potential in, and enjoys.
Up until now he has been a three sport kid, football, baseball, basketball. I know all parents say this, but he is a natural athlete, and seems to excel in most sports. He doesn't have much height potential, and will probably be average or slightly below.
I'm not trying to prep him for scholarship opportunities. I know the odds aren't in his favor there. I just want him to be able to meet his potential, develop and be challenged. He will still be in football, but will likely drop baseball. Any thoughts?

I should also mention that the coaching philosophy and ethics matter a lot to us. We have seen many club team coaches in baseball and basketball that teach winning but not sportsmanship. I really despise playing those teams.
Rich kids that trash-talk and disrespect their opponents. I won't name any, but hopefully you guys know what I'm talking about. To me I value coaches that mentor the person, not just the player.
