Any questions? Didn't think so. USD is still the best team in the Summit, and convincingly so. ag school is able to dauminate lesser competition, but faltered in a big way against a superior team. They were obscenely fortunate to get the results they did against us last year. Both teams shot well tonight. Too bad USD has a complete game to offer. You'd think their greatest strength would pair well against our weakest position. Enjoyed seeing the refs grow some balls and called Daum for traveling and two offensive fouls. I felt like I was in the damn twilight zone. I look forward to embarrassing the bunnies (worst name ever) again on national television in March. I am happy too but let's not get over confident. The Jacks will play much better than they did tonight in future games. They have a very high RPI and have played well against good competition. Tonight was the Coyotes night and they will have to continue to be as good or even better than tonight because they won't have the advantages in future match ups that they had tonight playing in their home arena. The Coyotes had their wake up call against NDSU and the Jacks likely had that tonight. What today does is bolster the chances for a Saturday game in the tourney and to me that is as big as the win itself. This is the way I look at it and IMO gives the Yotes the best chance to reach their goal. The Coyotes looked like they had more energy than the Jacks in the second half. The Jacks are not a deep team and T.J. doesn't seem too concerned about it and honestly the Jacks can get away with it with the light Summit schedule. Where it could catch up with them the most is in a Summit Tourney Final game where their depth could really come back to bite them playing their 3rd game in 4 days. That is why I think it is paramount that the Coyotes continue to build their bench from now until the end of the season. If and when the teams meet on Championship Tuesday the Coyotes can have the advantage in that matchup just because of having the energy. If they implement a high pressure defense and do some full court pressing along with their effective transition game the Coyotes could get many energy baskets and the Jacks hopefully rubber legs on their shots. The Jacks are a very good basketball team that happened to play a very poor game today. They almost put up 100 points on the Western Illinois defense on the road against a team that the Coyotes always struggle to score against. We got round 1 and that is nice but the conditions were the best for a Yote win tonight because the Jacks probably came in a little over confident and definitely lethargic.

Rewatched the second half. Trey Burch-Manning did a hell of a job on the defensive end.
I managed to forget just how little Hagedorn played tonight. 23 minutes, only 6 minutes in the 2nd half. I thought he was going to be our only answer to Daum, but TBM was our rock with support from Hagedoorn/Fuller (Fuller got 21 minutes).
I really don't think sdsu played that poorly tonight. USD shot better, but it's clear that the Yotes are the more complete team.

It's just one game, one brick added to the castle, NCAA tourney or bust!
But, it is time to show some proper respect to the Summit League Champions! I'm looking at you Mid Major poll

Nice to hear they used B1G refs. Ah, that explains it. it reminded me of the big dance game last year where suddenly Daum was being called for fouls, and drawing less of them....

Well, Well, Well was that an ass whipping. The Coyotes absolutely deserve credit for this win but in all my years of watching this rivalry in basketball have a I ever seen the Jacks play a worse game then they did tonight. It was like Vikings vs Eagles. The road team makes it easy and get 3 quick threes early and after that it was home team all the way. The Jacks did not come ready to play tonight and I hope they didn't get all of their misfortunes and bad play out of their system in one game. If there was one thing that can be taken from this game is that good defensive teams are almost always good defensively. Good offensive teams can come and go with their shooting. The crappiest thing about this is that the Jacks are not going to lay an egg like this again, probably the rest of the year. I certainly hope this is the beginning of their downfall but they will have plenty to say about the rest of the year. early on I was a little worried and it was a very NBA'ish game at the beginning. Both teams were just settling for outside shots and I was worried that if the Coyotes decided to play a game of target practice that it wasn't going to end well against a team that is probably better at outside shooting. The Jacks had their Ole' defense in high gear and were plenty lazy. The Coyotes just simply would not be denied. I thought overall that the level of play tonight did not match the level of play last year at the SCSC as the Jacks played a hell of a game in defeat. Basically this game was handed to the Coyotes on a silver platter and they obliged by yanking that platter away. What this does is put the Coyotes in good position to get at worst the #2 seed unless there is a significant collapse which I do not see happening. With the win over the Jacks the Coyotes are going to own any tie breakers against other teams in the conference in case another team makes a run. It also puts the tie breaker against the Jacks into play as well. If the Jacks win the rematch we have to hope that NDSU continues to lose because if you have a loss you actually want it to come to a team that finishes as low as possible in the standings. Lets say the Jacks and Yotes finish both with 2 losses. If the Jacks lose to a team that finished ahead of NDSU in the standings the Coyotes could win a tie breaker. If they win in Brookings the Yotes will for sure own any tie breaker. Now it is time to build on this and beat them in March when it counts the most. Oh what do you know... our biggest "fan" is back on the bandwagon... Thats why I call him Fair Weather Fan!

Seems like everyone on here is giving the bunnies more credit than they deserve. Yes, I believe they will be more prepared next time we play them, but so will the Yotes.
Smith had our guys prepared to play. There is no reason to suspect Otz didn't have the bunnies prepared to play. Otz knew what they were getting into coming to Verm. Smith just had a better game plan and our guys executed. I sincerely think the Yotes have not given us their best yet. There were many things last night the Yotes could have done better... how many EASY layups and dunks did we miss last night? I have full faith that Smith and his assts will have our guys ready to play them again next time.
Our men are for real... don't give the bunnies credit for not playing up to their potential because we didn't play up to ours either.
I don't think we'll whip their ass again like we did last night, but I predict we still beat them by 6 or more at that dump Frost.
...and I fully agree it was refreshing to watch the B1G refs not let Daum get away with all the BS like the usual SL refs we use - another reason why he looks so good in SL play and looks average at best playing against P5 or other big time programs. I am not on the Daum bandwagon... I even thought he looked smaller than last year. Are the strength and conditioning people at the ag school doing anything to earn their pay checks...? first cramping and now this...

I didn't get to turn it on until there were 8 minutes left in the game, as I was busy with kids church stuff, but wasn't surprised to see the score when we got home. I didn't watch the entire final 8 minutes, only until there was about 2 minutes left, and was pretty impressed by your teams play.
Fantastic game last night by your yotes, period.
As I posted on sdsu forum, 3 sure things in life...death, taxes, and SDSU struggles in Vermillion.

Kelly Pfeiffer is the ref who does Big Ten games. He is from Philip and believe he lives in Mitchell.

Nice to hear they used B1G refs. There is no other sport where the referees can have such a huge and game deciding impact than basketball. Unless we want to count those competitions like figure skating that use judges to determine the winner. Last year's SLT semi-final was proof of that. When you let the teams compete and decide who will win the game then the best team will ultimately come out on top. Hopefully the conference employs Big Ten officials at the SLT.

IMO Coyotefan this is where you are purposely trying to prod people again. SDSU came in overconfident and lethargic? they were rolling the first 6 minutes and leading or close the entire first half. USD has the best defense in the league and statistically one of the tops in the nation. USD made adjustments and our strong defense outplayed their "only shoot 3's (60% of their shots)" offense.
Guess what Coyotefan. We are pretty good too. We are now in first place in the conference, will be ranked higher in the mid major poll, are the returning conference champion losing one key player, and should have a higher RPI. WE ARE CURRENTLY THE BETTER TEAM. THATS NOT A DEBATE. that could very well change before the end of the season. Don't be a dipshit.
No kidding the game will be different in Brookings.

What a fun game! I wish student would show out for all games and not just the games against State but that will never happen. The bunnies play was so bad that I actually saw a SDSU fan pull a Bud Light out of her purse and chug it. It was hilarious!!
