Why is it the weather sucks for every home game this year?
Looking forward to dinner at the Red and two solid victories for the Yotes tonight.
While I know the average fan could care less about Chicago St, these games are quality match ups and I hope we have the largest crowd of the year.
Go Yotes.
Get to the dome, especially students!

It could be a night of a bit iffy weather for the out of towners. The Women's game will be the highlight of the night. On the mens side USD got the win against the Cougars on the road but it was definately a tough game. USD if they play like they did against NJIT should definately be able to pick up a win but if not if could definately be a good game.

In Aberdeen for the State B Wrestling Tourney, but I had the old blackberry in overdrive. Looks like the Yotes took CSU to the woodshed. Jake Thomas. 40 points. Good lord.

The Yotes play was outstanding tonight! They are really grasping the man-to-man defense. They dominated another opponent on the glass. It was an excellent display of sharing the ball and finding the hot hand. Thomas was unconscious and crashed the boards, Westbrook was extremely efficient, Cutler helped shred the press with his penetration and passing, Krogman was solid, Andreotti was a terror on the glass and had several blocks, Gruis rebounded and was solid defensively, Tecker and Boots contributed offensively. Rodenburg even hit 2 late 3s. This is what I expected to see all season. I guess better late than never. These last 3 games they have changed their strategy and played with such unselfishness, intensity and sense of purpose. I imagine the teams atop of them are taking notice. I would say tonight they played their best game of the season to date. Great win!

Jake Flippin Thomas you gotta be kidding me. 10 treys and 40 points. You talk about showing up for a game gosh did he ever. These boys are showing that they definately have it in them. It's gonna come down to one very simple thing the rest of the year. How much do they want it, cause the Yotes wanted it and showed us the capabilities of this basketball team.
Great all around night. I maybe should have put this in the women's thread but I have been dedicating literally almost my entire day to USD athletics. I am just about out of steam tonight but anyway Ryun Williams complemented the band on really being in the game and spurring on the crowd. He was very gracious of them tonight and I think it is classy that he made mention of them.

I know this is the men's thread, but I'll add to something to what Coyote Fan mentioned about the women's basketball team.
After the game, the players all went up through the band to high-five everyone, obviously for their support all season. The band has been there most games, when they can, and have become as vocal as anyone in the building. The one-liners are hilarious. Some teams have expressed concern, but nothing I've heard from the band has ever been offensive. Keep it up guys!

I just realized that if we run the table, including the GWC tournament, we'll reach 20 wins for the season. There were points not too long ago this season when I all but wrote off that possibility. We're playing well at the right time of the year. Go Yotes!

I think USD goes down to Texas and eeks out two wins this week. That would bring the Coyotes to 17-13 and 8-4 in the Great West. Considering how things were looking a month ago, I'd say that's impressive.
Coyotes will probably be the No. 3 seed for the GWC Tournament. Which, if the way things shake out the way they are now, USD would face Houston Baptist in the first round out in Utah.

I thought the women going up into the band was fitting. The band deserves major kudos this year. It was funny, they announced all the seniors on both BB teams, U dance, cheerleaders. They didn't mention the band, so true to form, the one guy that yells the most stood up and said if you are a senior in the band stand up and be recognized. One girl did. It was good. Almost as good as when they made fun of #21 prior to the game. And the cheer, "IF YOU COULDN'T GO TO COLLEGE GO TO STATE" was classic. THat one will be brought out again next year.
Back to the game. Heck of an effort by Thomas and all the guys really. Boots took Jake out with about 8 minutes left. Could he have caught Jack Theeler's 49 points had he stayed in. I think he would have had a shot. Had the game been closer I think we would have a single game record in the 50s. He was that hot. It sounds like Cody Schilling did the same thing for Augie, scored 44 and was taken out with plenty of time left. I understand why Boots did it, the game was kind of chirpy and physical at times. There were more "T"s than I've seen in a long time.

"...If you couldn't go to College go to State (repeat)...If you couldn't go to college and you really want the knowledge, if you couldn't go to College go to State!"
Loved, it, they busted out the Tech version for NJIT the other night with band members taking turns and chanting out a lyric then they all shouted out the chorus. There were some hilarious lines.
Yes, I'm sure we'll be hearing some versions of that next year.
Gotta love how it was "Toga Party" night in the band section. Dang, they have some fun at those games. The general student population is really missing out.

I agree, and the funny thing is I don't think the band is alcohol induced. They are just that fun. If only our student section would realize some of the best college memories could be at games. I know some of mine are.
Do they have a pep rally anymore? Maybe this fall we could talk to Ed about doing a pep rally on Friday nights. Heck, do the pep rally at pro's. Get beer involved - that will bring the students.

They have a pep rally during D-Days week, that is it, I believe. We had one back in my day many years ago. Poorly attended. I'd rather not have a pep rally if nobody is gonna show. just another embarrassment.
