I will be beyond shocked if he actually stays in the draft. This is obviously a way for him to speak with some NBA teams and see what he needs to work on to have a chance to be drafted next year. It makes sense for him to do this. I must say when I saw the headlines on Friday I was really hoping I was going to read that he got an agent, no such luck though.

Yeah, he probably isn't going anywhere. It is funny to have a handful of Jacks fans I know that were freaking out with this news, though. Especially ones that were gloating about Mooney and our lost recruit.

I see he is coming back to Brookings before they even have the combine. I take it he did not get invited to the combine, is that accurate? I would actually like to see him make the NBA someday I just don't think he will.

Hopefully this will bring some bunny fans back down to earth and allow them to be more realistic in their views.........but it wont.
Fact is its very hard to get drafted in the NBA. They just do not draft very many players. Especially from smaller schools. Daum is a really good player, but the chance of it happening are very slim even with how good he is.

Not even getting an invite should tell them that.

What will the local media write and report about if Daum doesn't make the NBA? He HAS to make it to the NBA... if not for himself, at least for them.

I get all the anti-bunny talk but the reality is Mike Daum is one heck of a player. Do I personally think he’s NBA material? No I don’t but only because for three years I watched a player from Iowa State named Craig Brackens who was unbelievably talented. He was drafted and still didn’t make the team. Daum will play somewhere professionally unless he opts not to.
I will say this....in my opinion Mike Daum is one heck of a good kid ( young man ) and I give him full credit for staying in Brookings when if he had listened to the same “experts” Mooney did, he to could have packed his bags for greener pastures. I have strong feelings he could’ve gone to Iowa State, started, and lit it up a lot of nights. But he chose to play it out at where it all started.

I have a lot more respect for Daum after the way he handled this process compared to Mooney.

You guys are all crazy. Everyone knows Daum was the first player to get invited to the combine, he just couldn't leave his best friend Reed alone in Brookings

Sorry... if it wears a bunny uniform, I still hate it. I had to laugh and reminded me of a story that happened to me. In 1975 my freshman year, an upperclassman threw me and a couple of other guys against the wall of the locker room, since we came to USD from out of state. The message was very clear....” WE DONT EVER LOSE TO THESE JAGOFFS. NOT THIS NOT NEXT YEAR NOT EVER” I’ll remember that for as long as I live. I love the rivalry and the sports hate that goes both ways. That’s what makes every time we play them special. From the players point of view it’s every bit as big as Michigan / Ohio State, Alabama / Auburn, etc. You all get it. At 60 years old I still vividly remember each and every time we played them. The testosterone flowing in the locker room, the jeers taking the field, he’ll even the coin toss no one wanted to lose. I hate the uniform Daum wears, trust me, but I appreciate Mike Daum. He handled it right. HATE STATE
