Coyote Football Starts New Tradition: Yote Walk 9/17/2010 Ed Meierkort Vermillion, S.D. – University of South Dakota football coach Ed Meierkort has issued a new charge to the Coyote faithful. Be a part of the “Yote Walk” before every home football game. Meierkort is encouraging USD fans to come early for Saturday’s home opener against Northwestern Oklahoma State and for all Coyote home games this season to greet the football team as it arrives at the DakotaDome prior to the game. These walks are tradition at schools across the country and South Dakota hopes to have numerous fans lining the street each home Saturday to show their support for the Coyotes. The team busses will drop off the USD football team two hours before kickoff (2 p.m. on Sept. 18) at the southwest corner of the new Coyote Village. The players and coaches, all wearing their travel warm-ups, will walk north up Rose Street past the new Coyote Tailgate Nation to the front doors of the DakotaDome. USD student, fans and tailgaters are encouraged to show their support for the team by greeting the team along its route with high fives and cheers. www.usdcoyotes.com/sports/football/release.asp?RELEASE_ID=5905
