Not to be disrespectful but these All-Conference teams are taking on the tone of participation ribbons given to little kids. How many 1st team All Conference QB’s can you have? It’s either Easton Stick or Taryn Christion. One or the other. Stick is MVP of the offense, so I’m assuming he’s the best QB in the league. I don’t get it. I have no issues with what USD put on the team ( or didn’t ) but deep down I do think Dakarai Allen is the best in the league. Just my thought.

The reality of these "all-conference" teams is that if your team wins, you get a lot of dudes on the "all-conference" team. This is especially true at positions that do not have stats readily available, such as O-line. You could be the best O-lineman in the conference, but if your team does not win, it is very difficult to make the first team. The reality is that there are a lot of exceptional players around the league that never get recognized. However, the players and coaches that watch the film each week, know who they are. Kudos to the Youngstown O-lineman making first team.

I'm not trying to say that those that made the list are not deserving, however, there are likely some players out there that would beat them out for their own position should they be on the same team.

Do you notice something interesting about Group 2 versus Group 1, a consistent similarity that Group 2 has over Group 1? Size. Group 2 is the 2nd team all-conference WRs and all of them are big receivers. Group 1 is the 1st team all-conference WRs and all of them are under 5-11, small receivers. Group 1 got the stats and the honors because, look who they play for, to the victors go the spoils. Group 2 didn't play for the winning teams but they have the measurables. Honestly, if I was drafting a team today I would take Group 2 over Group 1. But all-conference honors aren't about who is best, they are about awards, and to the victors go the awards.

I have no problem with how they were placed for WR. Allen could be on the top, but deserving players there on teams who don't spread it out as much as the Yotes. Allen has to be #1 in spectacular catches this year though.

Yeah, I don't have any problem with who got what awards. Like I said, to the victors go the spoils, and with team success individual accolades will follow. That's how it should be.

So now it's because they were on teams that were more successful, or there is something to do with size? Weineke was a 4 yr guy and at 6-4, 210+...Anderson for the Jacks had similar stats and comparable size as Allen yet he only garnered honorable mention, and I'll argue all week long and twice on saturdays Anderson is one of the best blocking WRs in the FCS. I'm not here to say Allen isn't deserving of his award, just trying to throw some objectivity into play.

It's not unlike all Heisman winners being on teams fighting for a national championship. They just go with the best players on the best teams. Yes, better teams have more better players, but when there isn't a standout guy the pick is likely just going to go to the starter on the team with a better record.
