They are very bad.

What is the record for fouls away from the ball in one game?

I feel like we are being out coached today (maybe Coach P trying to outthink her mentor). I watched both this game and SDSU one. Not sure why we haven't thrown the ball to Sjerven, Frederick, and Duffy in the post more. Lots of McKeever and Arens dribbling, which hasn't worked at all. Refs have been bad. But we are 25+ points better than this team.

The players have been almost as bad as the refs.

48 personals. That is absurd.

My only hope is that the refs were trying to take the attention off the rock-fight of a game and put ALL the attention on themselves. It was ridiculous.

7-1 with the lone loss coming against a really good looking Drake team (their only loss is to #1 Notre Dame). Doesn't make a whole lot of difference how we got here, it's a great spot to be in if we are going to make a run at a possible at-large bid.

48 personals. That is absurd. I don't know if it was that absurd. There was so much more that could have been called as Green Bay just didn't back off. It was inconsistently officiated though so every foul that ends up being called people are upset. First Quarter was a total rock fight, but then in the second quarter both teams are in the bonus a few minutes in. There was just so much contact constantly going on both on, and especially away from the ball, that it seemed like their game plan on defense is to just hammer away and for every foul we get we'll get away with several more. They were very good defensively though and definitely brought the intensity. If the 'Yotes would have hit on a few wide open threes early on that probably would have made a difference as they're somewhat deliberate and seem limited on offense. Good thing they were cold too, but I don't think offense is really their forte. 1 and 3 were both extremely quick guards; maybe the best tandem we'll face this season? Bottom line: Green Bay wants to play ugly basketball and if they can lure a team into their type of game they're tough to beat. Watching the game was somewhat reminiscent of a visit to the dentist though.

If you’re calling more than a foul a minute it’s absurd. The number of ticky tack (not tick tacky, Kelly) fouks called on both teams was ridiculous. Not a well officiated game at all.

Maybe not well officiated, but I'll be the contrarian and also say it was a very tough game to call. I don't see where the crew is limited in any way in the number they call though. If players don't back off they shouldn't be rewarded. I think they tried to get control in the second quarter; almost one third of the calls were in the first 5 minutes if I remember correctly. I know Green Bay was in the bonus two minutes in and USD shortly thereafter. Second half seemed like they kind of shrugged their shoulders and just started blowing random whistles. That's when things can get frustrating.

That’s the problem ... you either set the tone and make it clear what’s going on and let the players adjust right away or you let them play.
You can’t call 40 fouls in the first 35 minutes of the game and still have every player on the floor and both coaches looking around smirking like “WTF is going on” after every whistle.

The officiating reminded me of a State-U MBB game 4 or 5 years ago in the Dome. A ton of fouls/free throws, and no players or coaches seemed to have any idea of what was or wasn't a foul the entire game. It was ridiculous (and boring).
