Sounds like a concert, right? I was going to go with "The Dons visit The Toddfather", but I digress...
I don't have much to add yet, just wanted to start the thread.... This will be a big challenge for the Yotes, and not just because they knocked off the Jacks. The Dons are just a good, experienced team, and the Yotes are learnin' the system, searchin' for shooters, needin' a big man and breakin' their bodies. That's my analysis so far, I guess.

Said it before and I'll say it again: Konchar is the best all around player in the league.

Said it before and I'll say it again: Konchar is the best all around plyer in the league. Yep, there are better offensive players, but Konchar is a rare breed. Feels like this is his 7th year

Anyway, he's a hell of a player. Now watch him lay an egg here on Sunday. Actually, I guess that's be OK and I wouldn't feel cheated.

So here are some stats in match-up format:
Scoring
PFW scoring 84.3 (#2/#20) vs. USD Allowing 66.6 (#1/#67) USD scoring 65.7 (#9/#323) vs. PFW Allowing 77.6 (#7/#304)
Striking contrast in styles. If you simply average the two averages, you come up with:
PFW 75.5 - USD 71.7 or, 76-72
Massey actually has us winning 74-75

Three-point Shooting:
PFW is attempting 521 3PT ----(#1/#3)! (that's 29/game) PFW is making 10.8 3PT/game (#1/#5) PFW is shooting 37.2% 3PT ---(#5/#57) vs USD allowing 33.3% (#2/#167)
So even if we could keep their 3PT % low, with 29 attempts a game they will get some points.
USD is attempting 333 3PT ---(#9/#189) (that's 21 / game) USD is making 6.7 3PT/game (#9/#267) USD is shooting 32.1% 3PT --(#9/#264) vs PFW allowing 37.0% (#8/#307)
Maybe we will see an increase in attempts that could equalize things? Shooters gotta shoot, and Fort Wayne provides an opportunity. Of course, SDSU also gave us opportunities from the arc....
It's funny that the last-place Summit team in 3-point attempts (us) is still ranked #189 nationally in that stat. We are a conference that likes to jack up arc shots. If Lee can continue to develop this team's arc-shot defense, like he did at GCU, It might just be a perfect fit in the Summit. We are already good at it, even with all the challenges we have had to face this year. Imagine what that defense will look like with even a little more offensive consistency.

I was going to list Individuals with big stats, but John Konchar is at or near the top of just about every stat. So that's my analysis.

From Linus's article it sounds like he was a late bloomer, like last half of his senior year late, and he was skinny out of high school. He was under-the-radar then, and even now he is under the radar as an NBA draft pick. No doubt he will play pro, but it really is hard to get into the NBA.

Thanks...great stuff. Always interesting to wonder how many players like this there are hidden around the country although I would imagine it's hard to be putting up insane stats like that in Chicago and fly under the radar.

Honestly, it is insane to me that any great athlete would ever commit to IPFW (or departed IUPUI). I don't even understand why they have athletics. It would be similar to University Center-Sioux Falls having a team. 6% of IPFW's students live on-campus - approximately 600 students. That sounds like the worst traditional college experience ever.

Hmm...UCSF. Don't give Kelby any ideas. It does have a nice ring to it though, but people would just think it was the University of California at Sioux Falls.

Hey now, the obvious name would be something like USDSU-SF (or USD-SF if we reflect administrative control).
