Did the scrimmage happen Sunday? Did anyone go? No coverage I can see.

Did the scrimmage happen Sunday? Did anyone go? No coverage I can see. I was there. It was a beautiful day for it. Roughly a dozen kids from the 2 deep roster were withheld from the scrimmage. Thus, a lot of young kids saw action. A few observations: - The D-line is definitely ahead of the O-line at this point, but it appeared that at least a couple of O-lineman were withheld from action and there was one recent departure in Ciurej. Improvement is necessary in this group if the team is to be successful next season. Some of the young pups will need to step up big time.
- All of the QBs looked good. The experience and confidence that Simmons has gained is obvious. He has really stepped-up his leadership on the team as well. Jakob Parks looked greatly improved, as did Tsagalis. Devon Moore's athletic ability is tremendous. He just needs to get a better grasp on the offense. QB depth is the best that it has been for a long time.
- Henry did not play. Klett, Gibbs, and Brooks took all the snaps and each looked good at times. Klett displayed some nice speed on the longest run from scrimmage. Gibbs impressed with his physical play.
- The kicking game should be improved as Lorber was hitting most of his field goal attempts.
- LB's and DB's were fun to watch. They played physical and fast.
- I'd look for a fair amount of blitzing with the new defensive scheme.
In reality, there isn't too much that you can pickup by watching a scrimmage. As Nielson told me on the way out, for every player making a good play, there is usually one that did something wrong on the other side. He seemed pleased to get so many young players seeing some action and getting them on film in order to provide constructive feedback.

Good synopsis. I know three o linemen, Wallace, Schneider and Schiedegger, were all held out and those three are all very likely to see a lot of action. Hard to see very much from ground level while trying to look through players, but I thought the team speed shown on defense was obvious. That should be a strong point next season. The receivers are very, very good!
