I think fans and posters on this board should be aware of the COYOTE BROTHERHOOD, who they are, and what they’ve done.
It’s a group that’s comprised of former USD football players along with a sprinkling of former coaches that have formed a “social fraternity”. Through the internet they stay in touch with one another, provide a support group for those in time of need, networking for jobs and opportunities for players that are graduating soon, and various fund raising efforts that present themselves from time to time. A lot of guys are active in the promotion and mission of the group, but the guy that is the heart and soul of this group lives in Florida. He played here from 73-76.
This weekend a large number of former players will be descending upon Vermillion in their annual reunion. Today they are playing golf at the country club, supper tonight at the Dome Club, and later will be supporting their favorite watering holes from years past. Tomorrow they will be moving from tailgate to tailgate wearing their BROTHERHOOD shirts. If you see them stop and introduce yourself. Get to know them as they are great guys. The group is composed of players from all decades starting in the 60’s to last years grads. This group wants to grow in terms of connectivity to each other and the University, but would love to evolve and be a formidable contributor to Coyote football.
In just the past 3 years here’s what they accomplished.
1, Raised over $10,000 ( a great deal from you and other tailgating fans ) for Sara Hill the wife of Weber States coach Jay Hill who contracted cancer at an early age. Last year we met with the Hills and I’m happy to report she’s doing great. But the gift given to them keeps giving. They use those funds to promote and assist fund raising for children with cancer out in Utah. A great story turned into a fantastic story, and the money raised by the great people and fans of USD was put to awesome use.
2. Raised over $10,000 in 3 days to buy championship rings for the gals when they went undefeated in the Summit a couple of years ago. The bond that was created by these guys and our women’s basketball team is a story in and of itself.
3. Lastly, the just ran a 30 day fund raiser using our social platform as a base in an attempt to raise money for 1 scholarship. With 2 days to go, they have raised over $37,000 providing not 1 but 3 scholarships. How freaking awesome is that.
Anyway, say hi to these guys and invite them to your tailgate or say HI when your paths cross. They love the U like I do and would love to engage.
Ok, off my platform....KICK THE GRIZ’S ASS
