I think someone needs to sit his parents down and talk to them about the type of name they gave the kid. Plus he has goggles on the bball court. I feel bad for him because I bet he is a great kid. If he turns out to be money, I am sure we can put a positive spin on his name during games. That's what I am hoping for!

"Nimrod" is actually a name with great historical significance. Some positive associations, some not so positive. Pretty interesting stuff. Google it.
From what I've read, he sounds like a good basketball player we've been tracking for some time. On one of the gopher message boards, I saw a reference to our interest as far back as 2008.

So we've been watching him for 2 years. Big deal. Basketball coaches are combing the grade schools these days for recruits. I don't like what this whole recruiting game has turned into.
Cool name though. Gotta be tough to grow up with a name like that. Grade school had to have been brutal.

Welcome aboard Mr. Hilliard IV!
It's great to see a photo of a new recruit and imagine them hitting the game winning shot in a big game when they are a Yote. The Yotes are moving forward with an influx of talent and hopefully Nimrod will add to that movement. It looks like he is really going to be proud to be a Coyote.

The kid may have a funny name, but it seems like he can ball. He's not all that quick or athletic and he needs to add weight to his slight frame, but he looks like that pesky type of guy who just knows how to play basketball.
And after watching some youtube videos, it looks like our boy is clutch.
...that game would have been awesome to watch in person. There was some serious talent on the court. Vander Blue (No. 22 on the other team) will be playing for Marquette. He's a 5-star Rivals recruit and the 7th-ranked PG in his class. And Nimrod's teammate Marquis Mason (No. 40) is a freshman at Wisconsin this year and will play receiver for the football team.

It looks like Nimrod is having a solid senior season!
December Boys Basketball Player of the Month: Nimrod Hilliard, Madison East
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By: Travis Wilson | 1/10/2011
Madison East's Nimrod Hilliard has been selected as the WSN Player of the Month for December 2010 following a statewide vote. The senior point guard helped East to a solid start to the season and received 50% of the vote, easily defeating runner-up Sam Dekker of Sheboygan Lutheran. A total of 2150 votes were cast for the five deserving nominees.
East lost four starters, including All-State performer Marquis Mason, from last year's team that tied Memorial for the Big Eight title. There was also a change at the top, as veteran head man Rich Cleveland retired and was replaced by Matt Miota. So it is definitely a pleasant surprise to find the Purgolders at 7-2 overall and 5-2 in conference. Much of the credit can be given to senior point guard Nimrod Hilliard. He has picked up his scoring to off-set the production losses from last year, and is averaging 27.6 points per game so far. He's also chipping in on the boards and is once again one of the better guards at driving and finding teammates for open shots. In a 65-62 win at crosstown rival Madison West, Hilliard poured in 32 points. Less than a week later in a 76-59 win at league title hopeful Sun Prairie, he added 25.
The nominees for January Player of the Month will be announced at the end of the month. Keep an eye out for the list and remember to vote for who you feel is most deserving.

Well, we won't have Cutler next season. Is his replacement a true freshman? Cutler has really done a good job for us, but I personally love the idea of a point guard that is a threat to shoot the 3 and a mid-range jumper. Hilliard is lighting it up.
