The South Dakota Collegian is a good historical source, because old issues are available online. Can you not find the Volante online? It's been a while, but I recall reading issues of the Volante from the 1800s online before. The topics covered were...interesting (students talking about spending the upcoming weekend hunting "savages" stands out in my mind).
