I didn't get to see any of the game, but a surprising stat jumped out at me: Guebert with 5 fouls? How did that happen?

She earned 3 but 2 were iffy. Basically on the ones earned she was guarding a good ball handler too close. Good learning experience for film session.
She got a huge ovation when she left the game! Had hit 2 of 3 3s so including 2 against state she is 4 of last 5. Has a great future at USD!!

Totally agree with the fact that she "earned" 3 and to say that the other 2 were "iffy" is being very generous to the officiating crew. That said, I'm a big fan of her pure, raw talent and am excited to see what this team looks like next year with her playing a lot more. It's clear that Dawn is really pushing these girls to continue stepping up the defense and making life miserable for the opponents to execute their offense. I think Macy has totally boughten into that and her inexperience is what got her into trouble with fouls last night. Imagine being her...sitting and watching her teammates totally execute the plan and then getting a chance to prove yourself in the same way. Her adrenaline was definitely in high gear when she came in. The first two fouls were very deserved but then after that, the officials were honed in pretty tight on her and made some very questionable calls down the stretch. Like you, I love the ovation she got when she left the game and the smile on her face was priceless. Another great overall win.
