Right now in the big three sports SDSU is ahead substancially in all 3. I know transition this and transition that but USD needs to up it's game.
SDSU had a down year in football and USD had a chance to close the gap but regressed as much or possibly even more than the Jacks.
In mens basketball USD was probably considered even with the State men last year. After a slight regression and an influx of talent to the SDSU squad it doesn't look like USD is going to be on an even level with them anytime soon.
Same thing with Women's hoops. State was actually looking beatable and they turn it around in amazing fashion to get back to a third straight NCAA tourney appearance. USD shows makes a big leap but fall flat on their face at the end.
Is it more than just cooincidence that State fans just care more than USD fans do. They care more, attend more and even talk WAY more on their message board.
This trend was happening before the Jacks went to D1 and looks to be continuing right where it left off before. I am going to have a major problem as a fan if USD continues to lag behind over the next 5 years.
The USD brass has done a great job of getting the teams into a conference and focusing on the arena etc. Now can the USD administration actually put a winning product on the court that is going to be considered better than SDSU on the average. It sure would be nice one day if that happened because in my 20 years as a fan the Yotes just have not been up to SDSU's equal. As a major Yote fan that is very tough to deal with.
I sure hope something changes in the near future.

Ok so USD decided the Summit was for them but what that also did was put extra pressure on USD to start beating SDSU.
The AD and posse all need to get together and brainstorm what it is going to take to defeat this annoyance from the north and should stop at no cost to become the premier athletic program in the State.
When is the AD going to come out and let us all know that the goal is to win conference titles, have post season success and beat the Jacks consistantly. They wanted the Summit, they got it. Now they have the Jacks so what are they gonna do to ensure USD people that "we will not continue to lose to SDSU" like what happened the majority of time time before the end of the NCC.

Sayler has done a nice job with some things but now is the time to really start working on the goal of getting more people to spend their energy on the Yotes by attending games, having more coaches shows on TV etc. I have heard alot about the Howling Pack and the money aspects of athletics as of late but I would like to hear what is being done to not only raise money but to raise passion, which might actually be the most difficult thing to do.

Some message boards have that emoticon with the little guy beating his own head against a brick wall. I wish this board had one. I'll investigate.
CF, I know you enjoy hitting the panic button, but could you at least wait on your dramatic comparisons to SDSU until we're in the same league. Good grief.

Where is the sense of urgency in Coyote Land. I always hear, "things will get better". "we will get there". "let it go, it's getting old" "we are one or two years away". When are we gonna hear "now is the time", "it's important that we gets this things rolling right now". "we simple cannot accept this kind of performance, things will change immediately in practice to get better for the next game". I get really tired of always having to wait one more year. When as Coyote Fans will the future be now. I would sure like to know. It's time to set definate and specific goals and stop just blowing everything off. Either the goals get met or there are consequences. I want to hear about deadlines, I want to stop just accepting to be mediocre. When we played SDSU our athletic department was always behind there's and I am simply tired of it but I get the feeling I am just about the only one that thinks that urgency should be shown because no one else seems to come out and express the same thoughts.

Coyote Fan, the reason why people don't react to your posts right now is the fact that you start an initial post, then you go and respond twice to your own post and you keep rambling and rambling. You are
There is a sense of urgency with it, trust me. The teams really want to beat the Jacks and they definitely want to move ahead of the Jacks. Next you are going to tell me that Iowa State fans don't want to beat the Hawkeyes.

And you think your USD-SDSU thing is tough to deal with? Try being an Iowa State fan in Iowa, where both are in major conferences and such. Deal with that then come talk to me. Okay?

I sure hope something changes in the near future. Once you realize that the main goal is not to "just beat SDSU" it will go a long ways. SDSU's goal is to get into the post season in basketball, football, etc. and not to just play USD and beat them. I'm not saying that it's not good for fans, attendance, finances, etc, but it's not the overall goal of the athletic department to beat USD. Not even close. It's not a "we think we're better than you and don't need you" type of thing. Every athletic department strives for this and USD should too. You guys need to take care of your own issues with a new basketball and football arena and develop a better fanbase. Those things are much more important than beating your formal rival.

To sdsualum, Coyote Fan is one fan's opinion. Read through this board and remember we don't all share his opinions. I could care less about the Jacks, but I am sane enough to admit far too many Coyote supporters care to much about what SDSU is doing rather than focusing on what USD needs to do. Another reason the BSC would have been "healthier" for USD in the long run. Sure I want to beat the Jacks, but I don't define a season or program by it. I'd much rather hang a conference or national title over their heads.
Coyote Fan, you hit the bottle last night? One of your better rants. I'm sure it was brought on by the implosion of the women's basketball season. Keep in mind, it is women's basketball. It's nice when they do good but, ehh, I wouldn't define the athletic dept by their results. In the end they lost a game in a conference tourney that few people care about or will even remember by next week or month. That's the honest truth.
#1CF, you are stretching it quite a bit with your statement about Iowa St being in a major conference, aren't you? How come ISU never got to play Nebby the friday after Thanksgiving? Another national stage for Iowa, gotta love it. Ha Ha! Iowa is the Hawkeye State!!!

Yeah...last time I checked the Big 12 is a pretty major conference there buddy. Especially compared to the Summit and the Big Sky.

You should know me better than that, my #1 wish is for USD to have success by winning conference and national titles. But if you aren't going to beat SDSU the chances of doing the latter are much more difficult. As you know I have repeated stated that USD fans shouldn't think about SDSU as much as they do. I am bring this up because the Jacks are getting the spotlight and having success, etc. If you as a USD fan aren't at least a little jealous of that, than maybe you better have your USD pulse checked. SDSU's success should spur on USD to get better and I just don't get that vibe out of things. I don't sence alot of urgency but rather more excuses and using the transistion crutch to the max.

If by spotlight you mean the nasty gram article Stu did about the SDSU men, then they can have the press. Stu lit them up hard. I even thought the article was a little harsh. But with that said, is it really that hard to just say "hey SDSU women. Congrats on another great post season tournament and good luck in the big dance?"

It gets a bit harder when you say congradulations about SDSU several times over the amount of times it's said about USD. I wouldn't mind their success so much if USD would be matching it but that isn't the case. That is why it is tough to take.

You think it has been easy for them watching our basketball team have more transitional success? We won a conference title last year and had a post season game. They've had to suffer through some pretty tough seasons. You think they enjoyed the Bank Heist and all the press it did and still does receive?
So they've had a pretty good run in WBB. Big deal. We've had successes as well.
