The football roster for Spring 2020 has been posted. As far as I can tell there are eight players missing that would have been eligible to return this season. All were either freshmen who redshirted last season or walk ons who never really saw the field with one notable exception, Conner Herrmann. He was in the regular rotation at tight end and was an outstanding pass receiver from that position. He'll be missed, but I also know he was a standout student who had already graduated so I imagine academics took over as a major priority. More power to him and here's hoping for the best for him as well as the others in their futures. College football is a tough gig that is very demanding in time and effort. Sometimes I think fans can lose sight of how much work these kids put in. On the bright side DeValon Whitcomb is listed as a 5th year player. I know he redshirted his freshman year, injured his knee and missed a full season a few seasons later and I heard he had applied for another year of eligibility because of that injury.
It must have been granted by the NCAA which is good news for us because he's had a ton of playing time at defensive tackle these past several seasons. Won't be long before spring football starts.

Looking at the roster we are a bit light on receivers. Hopefully there are some transfers in the works🙏🏼 Does anybody have any insight on the receiving crew?

Guess I didn't count Powell, Long or Falck because that was old news. Goodson is a new one. He was listed when this first came out. Probably be a few more after spring ball is over. DJ Gross transferred to UNK. |

Headlee not super surprising after his dad was blowing off steam during NDSU game about hiw Bob should go back to Duluth and Sega too. Hunter is still on the roster.
I’m a little bummed about Gavin. I remember hearing he was battling hard for the starting center spot last season, and hate to see us lose depth.

Also Micah Roane a DE that was a walk on for Minnesota. I read he had got himself in a bit of typical teenage trouble but is grateful for a second chance at USD.
