I would like to poll everyone on here to get a feel for something.
As of now, USD will be opening the season Sept. 5th at Iowa State. If that game is played, the Coyotes cash in nice check that goes a long way in meeting budget. Next concern is the MVFC playing a full conference slate. Ticket sales, suites/loge income, tailgate spots hinge on the season being played. As well as sponsor revenue.
Here’s question #1: If the season was cancelled, and you already had purchased season tickets or even single game tickets, would you be willing to convert those ticket purchases into a badly needed donation in order to help offset lower dollar revenues? If so, why? If not, why?
Question #2: Would you make an additional donation to USD athletics to keep our program going?
I’m trying to figure out if Joe Public would be willing to make a sacrifice to our school in order to save jobs, athletic scholarships, etc?
I’m fairly certain the administration would not ask people to do that, but I’m wondering if there’s enough generous people that would say “heck yes, count me in”.
I really don’t know what Joe Public would do, and if there would be a ground swell of support that would fight for our athletic programs.
Thoughts?

My answers by the way are as follows:
1.) Keep the money and I’ll purchase tickets next year as well.
2.) I would make an additional donation to keep our program afloat. We just invested $80M plus the past 5 years. This would not be the time to pin additional hardships on President Gestring or AD Herbster.

I'd most likely do the same thing, have them keep keep the ticket money and I would for sure buy again next season. I'd also be willing to make a donation (to the Howling Pack?) as much as I'm able to help with this season's expenses. This is not the time to pull back as I see some form of economic survival of the fittest for college athletic departments in the near future.

It wasn't a thought before, but I would gladly donate my season ticket money if there aren't any games. I've already spent it and honestly I'm saving money if games don't happen (Vermillion economy is the loser on that one).

When I was your age the economic impact to downtown Vermillion would’ve been earth shattering. Lol

Renewed football and volleyball tickets with the belief I would never attend a game or match. There will have to be an effective vaccine or cure for the virus before I can risk the exposure. Fully understand people who aren't able to make the same choice because of finances, I was there (maybe once of twice!).
I have great concern as to the long term affect this will have on USD athletic finances. It will be a struggle to recover. We just have to keep the faith and do what we can do to help. We have come so danged far in the 50 plus years I have been a Yote fan and don't want to give anything back.
Go Yotes!

I’m just trying to get a feel if there’s a consensus.

Interesting questions I hadn’t thought about. I paid for my renewed “old tickets” but haven’t paid the additional charges since moving yet. I might be inclined to consider the sunk cost a donation but not sure if I would pony up the difference. I make a monthly HP donation, and probably wouldn’t increase it though.
