Just getting the game thread started. I don't have time today to do much for stats, but the GoYotes article has that.
Live stream from GoYotes as usual.

Drake is undefeated at 6-0. This will be a tough game, but a great indicator of team improvement over the past few weeks. I hope we have all our players available.

You always hope for a W at home, but obviously Drake is off to a great start. And I still think we have a few more weeks of being patient - a positive game isn't necessarily a W, but instead improvement.

Not sure how many illegal screens the bigs get per game but I don't think they have figured out how not to do it yet.

Unfortunately just not enough talent I fear. The guys try hard but need more scoring punch. No umude next year on top of it. Hope we get it turned around and get some offensive balance.

Well, there you go. Drake is simply the better team, but as mentioned earlier, we can't judge just based on a W or L yet. The thing is I can't say I noticed any obvious improvement - did anyone else? Personally, one thing I would love to see us take away from this game is Drake's willingness and ability to mix up defenses. The full court press took USD completely out of offensive rhythm. Why don't the Yotes try that? It was (and will be) really effective with teams that have a primary ball handler, since a zone press forces the ball out of their hands. We didn't seem well prepared for someone other than AJ to get things started on O.

File this away as a "In hindsight..." post. But Drake is now 14-0 (5-0 in MVC). They beat a pretty good Missouri St. team last night (play again tonight). As a point of reference, SDSU was given props for beating the MVC's Bradley, who is now 9-7/3-4. Again, hindsight, but two of our L's were to a very good team. We just didn't realize it at the time.

After I watched the Drake game I thought they were really good and would run all over any team in the Summit. I'm beginning to think there were a few overreactions from fans at the beginning of the season. Coyotes are as good as anyone in the conference, but there's really not much separation between the top and the bottom teams. That's why winning the few nail biters we've managed to pull out has been so important. The Summit Tourney should be a dandy. There will be some upsets although I don't know that in reality any result would be considered too much of a shocker.
