Think about what it does and will do for basketball. It looks like they will pass the new rule that will allow any student athlete to go to a new school without losing a year of eligibility. That being the case, why recruit from anywhere but the transfer portal. See players against a high level of competition, they use their one free transfer to come to you. A high school recruit can leave using their free transfer while a college to college after using the one freebie is with you to graduation. As for this year not counting coaches are going to have to make some tough decisions.

Yes, it’s been a very interesting year for these coaches and players to have to navigate. I can’t imagine the ups and downs emotionally and physically they have had to go through to get to this point. I have two major concerns that I believe are extremely real going into this fall.
1- The physical and mental toll this will put on the athletes. Practices basically from late summer and fall up until Thanksgiving with no competition to break up the monotony. Little break over Christmas time and then back at it heavy in January until who knows when this season ends. Vitally important to have strong leadership to keep the attention and focus that long. I’d imagine these guys are finding out real fast how much they “love” football and being part of this team. And then they have to turn around and do it again at a high level in the fall. Word on the street is that they aren’t paying for kids to stay on campus this summer, so how hard will they be working to get ready on their own. Again, comes down to strong leadership and accountability. Which leads me to the next concern.
2- I’d imagine with all of this, plus this rough patch the last 3 games, there’s is some chatter in the locker room/dorms/houses about transferring out of USD. Happens every year on every team, but I’d assume it’s more rampant this year because of the situation and the NCAA has now made it easier to walk away when it gets tough or a little adversity hits an individual or as we see the last 3 games, it isn’t going as we scripted it out. Question is, who will be back in the fall? Especially with the seniors having the ability to come back for the extra season.
Just some thoughts!

I was a proponent of this spring schedule for a number of reasons but now I believe the plug should be pulled. This is awful for the kids and coaches.

I haven't paid much attention to what's going on around the league (kind of hard to have interest when your own team isn't playing). I'm seeing that the MVFC played 1 game this weekend and 2 last weekend. Whatever problems we are facing for cancellations aren't unique as all 4 of the Dakota schools were also sidelined these past two weeks.
