It’s game week for what has been without question a disappointing season thus far. Here’s how I see it. We played like crap against UND and YSU. We outplayed Missouri State at home but found a way to lose the game. We beat Illinois State on the road. At the time it seemed like an impressive start but not so much now. We are 1-3,should be 2-2. Missouri State is in contention for the playoffs which makes that loss all the more disappointing.
We have one last chance to redeem ourselves and somewhat right the ship as we head into fall. This is a UNI team that is beatable. We have to play with fire and confidence or a win isn’t likely. One game at a time.

Go get em boys. I wish you all the best, but the apathy is real. My biggest concern is whether or not we use this nightmare of a season as a wake up call and figure things out before season this fall.
As for me, I'm going to watch the volleyball team tomorrow night.

Season Tickets for Volleyball, but not even a choice when there is a football game. Football wins before the hand is dealt.. i will be there and plan on being loud.. There is an apathy amongst fans, witness day before the game before a UNI thread is started, but I refuse to believe the players feel that way. I wonder if some of the apathy is because it's a spring season.

Hard to believe that they’ll be able to go to Brookings, and will WIU really want to pay to bus to Vermilion, and should we even risk injury? Feels like it’s time to pull the plug on the whole thing.

"...positive COVID-19 test result and subsequent contact tracing in South Dakota’s Tier 1 personnel..."
It's the contact tracing protocols that will make playing this season impossible.
Just shut it down and get ready to come back next fall.

If we shut it down, will they roll over season tickets into the fall? Someone mentioned that there is a clause in the loge suite leases about a certain number of home games per season being played and rolling the lease payment into the next year. Granted, those leases are significantly more than my season tickets, but paying for season tickets and getting 1 game might leave a sour taste in my mouth.

That will turn out to be a very expensive game I took the kids to. A very aggravating loss to Mizzery State.

I received an email today to renew my football season tickets for the fall. The email included the following statement: The USD Athletic Department recognizes that with the rescheduling of the season from fall to spring, and the recent cancellation of the game vs NDSU, opportunities to attend home football games has been adversely affected. As a result, we are working on a plan to provide options for prorating a portion of the cost of your season ticket(s). Information regarding this plan will be communicated at the end of the spring football season.

I'll admit I wasn't very excited or optimistic about this game anyway, but cancelling just feels wrong. I can't imagine preparing for big games 2 weeks in a row and having the plug pulled at the 11th hour.
I don't want to hijack the thread or anything, but this has got me thinking. Some info I've seen about the vaccines says that they don't actually prevent you from getting COVID but rather prevent the symptoms. Does that mean you can still test positive even if you've had the shot and don't feel sick? If that's the case, I don't think the virus itself is going anywhere, even if people aren't really feeling the effects of it. What does that mean for a fall season? It seems like the country is on track to have everybody that wants to or is required to get a shot vaccinated by this summer. Can we give up on COVID 'protocols' by then?

I'm sorry guys. Missouri State was the only game I made arrangements to attend. I must be bringing bad luck since I was skipping the other 3 home games and they got erased.
I'm not going to call for us to shut it down since I believe game experience is valuable, but I will say that this is all very dumb. I have not been able to take sports seriously this past year.

I will second that this is indeed all very dumb. I should know this but, this season doesn't count against eligibility, correct?

It may not affect eligibility but players will leave or be pushed out. Just because the NCAA granted another year of eligibility does not stop the flow of players coming out of high school. The NCAA was wrong in not counting this year towards eligibility because it is going to create a logjam of players for years and limit opportunities for these kids coming up. Huge ripple effect.
On the flip side, the level of play should be very high for several years due to the abundance of players available.
