That's a cool home opponent! What I like even better is the general attitude around the program that we can and should win these types of games. It's no longer a novelty to play P5 schools.

I have been looking forward to this rematch. The Coyotes were not playing their best and I believe SD is the better team. The game will go along ways to either prove that true or not. I think the Coyotes and the fans will be super pumped and I predict a 15-20 point win. The Coyotes have much leadership back so they should be well equipped for this game. Not sure what OU will bring so will reserve judgement on them.

Full schedule released. Opponents not previously discussed are home games against 2 Missouri Valley teams in Bradley & Valpariso. Glad to see Drake, Creignton & Wichita State on the schedule. All three are regional and we have played played all three frequently in recent years.

Wow - that is quite a schedule. 5 teams from P5 (2 of which will be ranked in the top 10, and a 3rd may be T25), a Big East team, and three from MVC. AND we also play Briar Cliff! (OK, that seems out of place here, but I see the need for a get-right game.)

I'd say that this schedule should rival that of any team in the country and if that that doesn't prepare us to run the table in conference then nothing will!

Just look at the size of the 5 top non-con teams our women play this year. You realize how amazing it is to beat any of these schools: Texas A&M: 71,109 South Carolina: 35,468 Pittsburgh: 34,580 Oklahoma: 30,903 Northwestern: 22,603 (small for B1G)
Summit League avg: 10,740. There are 7 schools in the Summit with larger enrollments than USD (10,061), including newcomer St. Thomas (10,173).

We're less than a week away from hosting, arguably, the best women's basketball program to visit Vermillion. I know, Iowa State and Michigan State are very solid programs, but the Oklahoma brand seems to be of a higher tier on a national scene. I know they haven't been as elite as they have been, but this is still a very impressive "get" by the coaches to be able to host the Sooners. I continue to be amazed how the bar just keeps going higher for our Yotes women's program. This team deserves a solid 4K (a sellout would be phenomenal) or more to kick off the season. Because I am a numbers "Geek" when it comes to this, I did a quick (and very rough) count of tickets that are accounted for already. It appears about 1,800 tickets are already spoken for, that's not counting students. So, let's keep promoting this season opening game and get the SCSC rocking.
Oh..no biggie, 2nd game of the year is just hosting the #1 team in the nation in Sioux Falls. But let's enjoy the lead up to this first game, first. We fans are truly spoiled with what this Coyote program continues to accomplish. Can't wait for the 21-22 season to kick off.

We're less than a week away from hosting, arguably, the best women's basketball program to visit Vermillion. I'm gonna be "that guy" and argue Washington takes this title running away since they made the Final Four the year they came. Unranked for the visit though, and I can't remember much hype. I hope the red/white striped stands works. I should probably buy my ticket already so that I can come prepared.

I don't think he was saying "highest ranked at the time" or even "best season at the time", but moreso the "program reputation". And with that, I agree that Oklahoma is probably the more respected program. Oklahoma was in the national championship in 2002, has three final four appearances in the 2002-2010 period, 21 tournament appearances, four Big XII titles. A lot of those achievements were in a recent time-period, too. Where most of Washington's heyday was in the late 80's/early 90's. Iowa state has a similar profile to Washington, but more recent success, like Oklahoma. Washington was top-tier with now-WNBA player Kelsey Plum, but not exactly elite since then. I'd call Oklahoma a top-10 program that has recently fallen on hard times.

Actually, I'll be "that guy" to my own post. I completely forgot that Oregon visited the Dome during that WNIT run. At that time, Oregon wasn't near what Oregon is now. However, yes, I meant program reputation. Oklahoma is a top tier program who competes for very highly touted recruits, just read their board as to who they're after and in the hunt for.
Any way you look at it, it's going to be an exciting week surrounding a lot of Coyote programs. I'll be seeing a lot of I-29 next week.

Kinda ironic that Oklahoma’s new HC will be very familiar with the SCSC. Up until recently she coached Drake…

Just got tickets for this one. This should be the revenge game no doubt. OU was supposed to play at the Pentagon but their game was cancelled. Than it turned out that the Yotes had to play in Norman and weren't playing their best at the time and suffered the loss. I am gonna end up predicting a double digit win as I think the Coyotes are gonna want this one pretty badly.
