Wow, what a match! Juhnke and Harms with big nights. Both teams had tons of service errors. Can’t do that against Denver.
…return of the champs…

This is big because after the Denver match on Saturday the coyotes would have played all the toughest teams on the road and the SCSC can be tough on opponents. If the Yotes beat Denver they will absolutely be the team to beat but even if not they will still be in a good position.

Coyotes win in 5 Back on top After a stumble in the front-stretch, the Yotes took the first turn off-pace, but regain the lead in the back-stretch. Now just a half-length ahead, this race is heating up. Will the Yotes be closers on the home-stretch?

What better way to close that match out, but with a "Junked-up" kill?
Now that's entertainment. Anyone who hasn't yet watched a live match is missing an opportunity.
official attendance: 1330 (including a nice-sized Coyote section). Pretty good. But we can do better in the SCSC. I have a feeling that home matches against KC, Omaha and Denver late in the season will break some more records!

Watching the digs in this match was crazy. Its like players of BOTH teams didn't want to let their teammates down so they were diving and going for everything. I tip my hat to both teams. Service errors were kinda tough to watch. Yet they were happening on Omaha team as well. I think both teams let the importance of every single point get to them. And they over tried on the serves. I really enjoyed the sheer length of some of the points. Showed how hard both sides were playing. Am i overly worried about service errors against Denver? not really. As i wrote the other day, the Yotes are 5-0 in their last 5 meetings with Denver. And 3 of those victories came in Denver! If there are any nerves to be had ( hence, high service error count) it could be from the Denver side trying to get that w\l record a little closer. I look for both teams to have a close number, hence no advantage. Brooklyn B has been given more court time the last 2 matches....and its paying off for the back row. It would be very easy to acknowledge so many yotes on their numbers or how they played last night. But id pretty much be naming everyone that played. good TEAM effort. I like our odds in this next match as well. Go Yotes.

DENVER
Denver, who has lost only to Northern Colorado and Omaha, leads the Summit League in nearly every offensive and defensive team category.
Lydia Bartalo, a fifth-year senior and Summit League player of the year two seasons ago, leads the way at 2.84 kills per set while also averaging 2.51 digs per set. She is the national leader in service aces per set at 0.80 while her 44 total aces are just two off the national lead. The offensive attack has five different players averaging over two kills per set.
Erica Andrich is at 2.75, Tina Boe (2.35), Hailey Green (2.21) and Ari Winters (2.05) while Brianna Green is at 1.44. Boe, a fifth-year senior, leads the Summit League and ranks seventh nationally, with a .453 hitting percentage.
The Pioneers rank in the top 10 nationally in three categories, aces per set (10th), hitting percentage (10th) and opponent hitting percentage (sixth).
The 6-2 offense is directed by setters Ellie Anderson at 6.11 assists per set and Lorrin Poulter at 4.60 assists per set.
Defensively, Gianna Bartalo averages 3.75 digs per set and Anderson 2.04.
Boe ranks third in the Summit League at 1.18 blocks per set.

If they run a 6-2 offense, then I’m reasonably comfortable our front can carry this out. Them running a 6-2 gives them 3 attackers every rotation which means only 2 defensive specialists plus back row setter to defend. I feel our fronts are better than theirs….I give the matchup advantage to the Coyotes. If we play without fear or trepidation I think we win.

Their ace stats combined with our issues in the back row have me nervous. If they are getting aces and we are having continued serve errors, the front row can't get enough action to be a difference maker. But I'm pretty optimistic that the Yotes will neutralize those DU stats a bit.

Passing is always a concern. We are getting better. Not great but better. If we continue that trek then we’ll be there in the mix at the end. I hadn’t seen their stats on aces but that tells me they’ve been effective serving deep ( backing up the defensive players ) then dropping camp fire serves.
Our service errors come when we are trying to serve tough. Bollweg and Jurgens are excellent at that when they’re on. I would say if they know they’re not on so to speak, then back off and put it in play and count on our front rows ability to block or at minimum get touches.

Shoot. Lost in 5 via reverse sweep. Must be karma from the reverse sweep we pulled on them the last time we played…
